Current customer rating:
FOR SALE: 1968 RS SS Camaro
383 Stroker / 4sp Muncie / 12 Bolt Posi.
Original Driveline / Correct Colour / Original Interior/Original Glass
Perfect for someone who wants a great running '68 &/or wants a project car of their own.
You could get this car looking quite good with just your time.
There's no major issues to contend with. It just needs a good tidy up.
This is a great base to build a solid street machine from.
Possible SS:
4spd Muncie was built - 23/10/1968 – a week later;
12 Bolt posi. was built - 31/10/1968 – a week later;
the first week of November. the vehicle was assembled
It's certainly the driveline of an SS and built at the correct times to make it plausable however the motor has been changed so it cannot be verified as an SS.
It had a new clutch. pressure plate and throw out bearing installed when I bought it in May 2011 - it has less than 100km on it since then. During my time it has also received: New Carby. New Battery. New Mags. New Starter Motor. New Coil. Now she's a reliable runner. The original Ralley Wheels can be put back on if you prefer. The tyres are quite ordinary. Front tyres are too wide (245's) & rub a little at full lock on the mags. They were fine on the Ralley's. This is a 383 Stroker engine. 350 block. 0. 030” over with a 400 crank. Double Hump heads. Edelbrock Carby. Extractors. It has a small timing cover gasket leak when it's hot. She starts & runs great. Nice little cam in it. It's certainly fun to drive. Goes well. similar to SS Commie or Skyline GT-T but looks and sounds far better ;-) RS Front: The headlights do not open. There are no vacuum lines for them either. Commonly discarded with a motor swap or bigger cam. Either that or it is not an original RS front. I never cared if it was or not as I wanted the SS/RS look. Engine bay – after a good clean up and a set of leads that aren't yellow… it'll be fine. The paint needs to be done if you want to show. it's old. Done in the late 80's. For some reason the paint always looks great in photo's. It is not as good as it looks in the photo's. From 3m it's fine. Couple of touch-ups and a bloke who knows what he's doing with a speed file and buffer will have her looking just like the photo's. This is a low cost job. The body panels are pretty straight. Only panel work needed is a dent in the front right qtr panel & a scrape above the passenger side rear wheel arch (caused by wharfies. apparently no-one did it. it just happened whilst at sea). Both are pictured and not major. The hood needs alignment. It opens. closes & latches fine but when unlatched it is not level. Hood hinges and I do not communicate well hence I have not bothered to fix it as yet. The underside; the pans look not bad & great. LH pan has pin hole. not bad. RH is solid. great! The entire underside needs a good clean up. All I was planning was to pull it off. wire brush &/or blast it. paint it. put it back on. In the pics I've shown you the diff. fuel tank & headers. This shows you the surface rust needing removal. Just labor intensive work. not costly. This Camaro has sub frame connectors. tramp rods & air shocks (2 of these 3 things are cool). The welder who installed the frame connectors wasn't the best. Nothing that an hour with a grinder and a MIG/TIG can't fix. Tramp rods are solid gear. Air shocks. probably the hottest thing around when the paint was done. Interior is in good shape considering it's age. It is above average condition overall. Centre console needs a new tray lid. The seat springs provide an extra two inches of lowering due to their lack of "spring". No stereo. I've blanked off the stereo recess so it looks neat. Easily removed.
I have three other cars on the go and I need the space. not the money. I am open to negotiation but not trades as I need to free up some space.

I have bought several sight unseen vehicles now and each time the vendor has been straight up about the condition and I've been very happy.
I'm doing the same here. I'm happy to pick it to pieces so you know exactly what you are getting if you can not veiw it.
