Mercedes Benz W123 200

I acquired this beautiful Mercedes from the second owner who had it for 4 weeks. only selling it as to concentrate on other projects.   He picked it up from the original owner who had given up driving due to ill health.   The original owner purchased the car new from Southend Mercedes in December 1983 and continued to have it serviced and maintained there for the next 29 years.   The car has been garaged all its life and it shows; it's genuinely exceptional! It even retains the original tin of Mercedes mints in the glove box which were supplied with it from new!  Every aspect of the car looks brand new from the chrome trim to the unmarked interior in matching green with zebrano wood.  

It's the 200 series with a 2litre engine and 5-speed gearbox.   Both are smooth and quiet and have been subject to religious maintenance.   The car has just had a thorough service including oil. filters. differential oil and gearbox oil.   The car has also undergone a comprehensive waxoiling should you want to use it every day.  I've also replaced the entire ignition system including spark plugs. leads. rotor arm and distributor cap; the engine is absolutely on the button and would take you anywhere from the shops to a European adventure.

The bodywork is beautiful and really needs to be seen to be believed; just look at the photos!  I've continued to lavish on the attention always keeping it immaculate and coated with a thick layer of Meguires' tech wax.   There are a couple of extremely minor marks the worst being a tiny rust mark on the folded edge of the bottom of the passenger side rear wheel arch and 3 small touch-ups on the roof. The underside and chassis was subject to a £4000 overhaul at Mercedes just over 18months ago…no expense has been spared maintaining this car!

The interior is in flawless condition as you would expect from looking at the rest of the car; the rear seats have never been sat in and the carpets have always been covered by mats (which have recently been replaced for new. tailored items).  The driver's seat base has very slight darkening of the fabric and the clock doesn't keep time very well. Everything else works perfectly though including the pneumatic central locking and electric driver's mirror.

I've also just had 4 new kumho tyres fitted.  

The only modifications to the car are a set of lowering springs which have improved the looks of the car without compromising ride comfort or practicality and a period looking Clarion CD Stereo head unit.

If you're in the market for a very special W123 or a genuinely usable everyday classic with great economy and reliability in exceptional condition this car is well worth viewing. The car just passed its MOT with flying colours and no advisories so you have piece of mind it's as good underneath as on top.   Between the unbelievable condition. the colour. the options and the history this really is a unique opportunity.
