Current customer rating: (182 votes ) based onI had this classic towed to DCH Honda of Oxnard and has been gone through completely by the head technician in the Service Department. It has a blown head gasket according to the head technician at DCH Honda of Oxnard. the two front axles can use replacing along with fluids and the other necessary repairs when a head gasket goes out. their estimate of all recommended items to be done is included in the photos uploaded here.
WHAT HAPPENED: a sudden loss of power and massive amounts of smoke began to emanate from the exhaust pipe. It has just over 70k miles. Someone else can have a true running classic that will never have an issue with passing smog because of Honda's Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion. (CVCC) engine. a true accomplishment for 1977.
The Radio in this car does not seem to work. the horn works but buttons are off. one is hanging and needs a screw to hold in place and another is in the glove box. The rearview mirror was pulled off by my little one and would need to be replaced. The two front seats could be upholstered it currently has a generic seat cover. DCH Honda of Oxnard is willing to repair the head gasket and resurface valves replace all fluids and needed seals for $1600; this would get the car up and driving with the other issues known upfront! Tires are great! If you are mechanically inclined and have the tools and time the cost would be significantly less I would imagine. either way. keep us in mind.
Q: Do you have the pink slip ? Aug-29-16A: I have the title! the vehicle was purchased on a Thursday. I drove it to my grandmas house on Friday; Saturday while running errands locally before heading to DMV a sudden loss of power then a cloud of white smoke! I parked it in front of my apartment and the next day had it towed to DCH Honda of Oxnard. The person I bought it from has signed the title and turned over the sellers portion to the DMV. So I'm not sure if you can sign where the buyers signature goes along with a bill of sale to take to the DMV? I have not yet signed it. would you happen to know?
Q: Im looking for two small interior parts if you want to sell them separately. i can email you a picture if you respond. Interior grab handle. Hatch inside as two plastic covers inside on the roof. thanks. I don't think anyone buying your car would miss a handle or those little covers in the back for the hatch. Aug-28-16 A: sorry I'm not parting anything out. it wouldn't be fair to the potential buyer or me if I it doesn't sell.
Q: Swap out the engine. Those are fun cars. I drove it to see my grandmother before she had surgery and back and put about 100miles before it did what it did. I owned a 2005 Toyota Camry 4cyl before and I would say that this little beast took the grade much smoother than did my Camry ever did. its a powerful little car and great on gas! I was looking for the metal retaining rings that slipped over the auxiliary valves retaining collars; prevented them from vibrating loose and backing out of their threads. I've contacted Honda's corporate office and no luck. would you happen to know where I could find the retaining rings? apparently the auxiliary valves retaining collars were known for backing out of their threads and simulated a blown engine.
