1958 Hillman Husky imported by myself from California a few years ago. It's left hand drive. running a 2. 3 Ford Pinto with an auto box.
Tax and MOT exempt.

When i bought it. i was told it was running & driving fine. just needing the brakes uprating as it was on original drums.
Turned out the description was a little bit off.

It would barely start. let alone run. The metal work around the gearbox was a combination of pop rivets and tin foil thin metal. exhaust tips were nice and shiny. not what you'd expect for a running car. plus other issues.

It's recently had over £9000 of work done at Valley Gas. This included new exhaust ( was originally an ill fitting side exit system. now new custom built twin rear ) disc brake upgrade up front ( from a 1966 Singer - it now stops. was dangerous on drums ) and a rebuilt engine (all receipts and photos to prove - was scary adding that lot up ). Prior to this it had work done at a local garage to replace flimsy flooring around the gearbox . fit wipers. and sort a few minor issues  - again have receipts to prove.

It's all correctly registered and on the road. nbsp; and now starts. runs and stops. and gets lots of looks from the neighbours :)  Apart from the body mods mentioned. everything is is still 1958 Hillman. The body is solid. probably helped by the Californian sunshine.

However. it's still an on going project - very bare interior. gauges don't work. no handbrake ( being mot exempt and auto it was low on the 'to do' list ). could do with side window rubbers refitting. key only operates the ignition so unable to lock the doors. rear seat fitted but missing a bracket so wont stay up. paint work has a few marks in places. nbsp; plus probably a few other little bits and pieces.

I also have a bit of history on the car - a letter from the previous american owner stating how he found the car the car ( in a box car in Idaho ) and the work he did on it.

It could probabaly do with a bit of fine tuning. it's noisy having no carpet or soundproofing. And certainly not for the shy :)

Only selling as. after nearly 3 years and lots of money. I fancy a change - In my head. by now. it should have been a finished show / strip car. but it's not quite gone according to plan - i've learnt to be a bit more careful when importing from overseas.

Any questions / viewings feel free to ask. Cash on collection or bank transfer please - no paypal.
Collection within 7 days please.
It can be driven away. but with the lack of gauges. i personally would trailer. but it's down to the buyer.
Car is advertised elsewhere.
