1993 BMW M5 3. 8 Tourer - Avus Blue (LHD)
This is a listing that I never. ever wanted to have to make but sadly time and other influences have forced my hand. I purchased this car in 2006 with a view to restoring it to its fully glory. I bought the car with an engine misfire. this was diagnosed by the previous owners' garage as a burnt exhaust valve. I cannot confirm this. but don't doubt that this is the case.
The car has monumental amounts of service history. as can be seen by the carpet of receipts in the photograph. and totals over £25. 00 as you can see. it was maintained regardless of cost. The car has been dry stored in my garage since October 2006 when I purchased the car.
It has been driven on private land (I live on an old airfield) to keep everything freed off. but sadly each year something else crops up and the M5 drops down the bottom of the 'to do' list. As a result. I have resigned myself to the fact that this is one project that will forever be beyond my grasp. so it is now time to let someone else have this incredibly rare opportunity to restore and enjoy one of the original M cars. in arguably one of the rarest forms ever produced (only 891 made!)
The car has done just over 260. 00kms. which equates to just over 160k.
The overall condition for the car is good considering it will be 20 years old this year. The rear tailgate glass aerofoil will need to be replaced as it is lifting off the glass and there are the beginnings of some small areas of corrosion to the drivers side door and wing and trailing edge of the tailgate (All ususal E34 weak points) hence why I am selling the car for restoration. (The car has no tax and MOT. )
Considering the rarity of the car. along with the vast service history. this is a great opportunity for someone to restore this superb piece M-Division engineering. I am gutted that it's something that I will not able to do myself.
