What We Know:

 

This car should come with a warning label: Not for the faint of heart. Our good friend Barry from just outside of Detroit has been building this car over the past 35+ years. In fact. this was Barry’s first car when he was just 15 years old! Needless to say. it wasn’t easy to pry the keys from his hands. and I believe a tear or two was shed when we loaded her up. The good news is that Barry is an ASE certified mechanic. and all the work done on the car has been done by him. It doesn’t take a professional inspector to see the blood. sweat. and love that has gone into this car to make it one of the most unique Mustangs cruising down the highway.

 

The Exterior:

 

The car underwent a mini restoration about 10 years ago. where the previous owner had a friend strip it down and give it a new paint job. He draped her in a Sapphire Green. which was actually a ‘71 Olds Cutlass factory color. I would say an OK job was done on the paint. not great. but OK. The car does show some orange peel in the cowl. along with a handful of small blemishes in the paint throughout. most notably on the very front edge of the hood (see pics). Outside. under the sun the car shines and shows beautifully. The chrome Cragar rims really give it that 60’s – 70’s muscle car look. Oh yeah. not to mention the giant tunnel ram sticking out of the hood! The car is sitting in all original sheet metal. with no dings. dents. or bondo to speak of. The car is 100% rust free. as it has been stored in a dry climate year round. and only brought out to be enjoyed on nice days. Overall. to me. the car scores an easy 7+ out of 10. If it weren’t for the mediocre paint job. the car would be a 9 easily. with a ton of upside potential. We did leave the lettering on the back of the car. but with a high grit sand paper and a little buffing. we could easily get the “Neighborhood Complaint” and “Mustang” off the rear deck lid and filler piece pretty easily. From the amber fog lights to the hood gauges and pins. to the track bar rear suspension set up. this car is just bad to the bone. and she certainly has that menacing look about her! The Interior:

 

The interior is mostly original. and in great condition. We were told that the carpet was recently replaced with OEM material. and looks brand new. The seat belts have been upgraded to an RJS Safety Equipment lap belt in the passenger seat. and a full 4 point harness for the captain. The door panels are mostly original. with an added wood panel at the bottom of each door. where an aftermarket door speaker was added. The original seats are in great shape with very little wear and tear on the fronts. and virtually none on the back seats. Most of the gauges have been upgraded to AutoMeter. and relocated to the cowl just outside the windshield. All of the gauges are in good working order. and are easily visible at their new location. The dash pad is in great condition and shows no signs of wear or fade. The original radio has been upgraded to a JVC CD player with a set of Pioneer 6”x9”s in the rear deck to accompany the upgraded door speakers. Amplifiers mounted in the trunk keep the music jamming even when that beast of a motor is screaming at 5. 00 RPMs! The previous owner also added blue LED lighting throughout the cockpit. to replace the stock cabin lighting. Between the seats you’ll find the fire extinguisher. as he did take this Mustang on quite a few long runs (with no issues). You’ll also see that the shifter has been upgraded to a “Quarter Sticks” ratchet shifter with reverse lockout. The original headliner is extremely clean. with no sagging or repairs needed. The trunk looks to be all original. and does have the original spare with bottle jack present. The only upgrade in the trunk area is the mirror mounted to the deck lid. along with the amplifiers for the upgraded sound system. All in all the interior of this Mustang is exactly what you’d expect. Mostly original. with a handful of upgrades throughout.

 

Under the Hood / Under the Car:

 

And now… the shining star of the show. You really don’t even have to pop the hood to see that this factory 302 is not stock. The little 210 horsepower small block Ford motor is now pumping out close to 450 ponies. Sucking twice the air through an aluminum Weiand tunnel ram. and holding two Holley carburetors. this motor is breathing clean at any speed. The Mallory ignition system keeps everything firing on all cylinders. with help from the MSD wires. The beefy cam keeps this thing idling with a little lop. and she has no issues snapping the tachometer. The car has an angry sound to it. and I absolutely love it! Keeping clean fuel flowing is a breeze with the help of the Holley fuel pump and filter. This car truly has too much to list. and like we mentioned before. all work was done by an ASE certified mechanic who has owned this since he was 15… it was done right! Take a look through the underside pics and you’ll see that the car is rust free and has been fully undercoated. The only thing she’s missing is a driver! Call today!

 

Final Assessment:

 

This car is badass. hands down. If you’re a true Mustang (or any muscle car for that matter) fan then you’ll appreciate the work that’s been done to this one. To build a reliable small block that produces more than 400 horsepower is a feat all it’s own. To put it into a car like this is really just the right thing to do. In many cases there is a delay in receiving the original instruments up to 21 days from the time we pay a vehicle off. While we usually have all titles in our possession at closing. there are occasions where we may be waiting for them to arrive. If payment is made by cashier's or personal checks we will hold all titles for 10 days or until funds have cleared.

 

Shipping & Delivery: All shipping charges are buyer's responsibility.  Evolve Motors will help with shipping arrangements but will not be responsible in any way for claims arising from shipping damage! Licensed Carriers are generally insured for $3. 00. 00. 00. We assume no responsibility for damages incurred after the vehicle leaves our showroom. All shipping arrangements are provided by Evolve Motors as a courtesy. We are not affiliated with any carrier. Any claims or other communication regarding shipment of vehicles will be between you and the shipper. not with Evolve Motors. The amount of time it takes for delivery is dependent on the carrier. but is generally 7-14 days from the date the vehicle is picked up from our facility until it is delivered to your destination. Verify with the shipper for an Estimate Time of Arrival to be sure.

 

Finalizing your Purchase: Evolve Motors will contact the successful high bidder by e-mail after the auction closes. Successful high bidder MUST communicate with Michael at Evolve Motors by  e-mail or phone
(773) 267-2684 within 24 hours of the auction ending to make arrangements to complete their transaction. If we cannot confirm your intention to buy or the sale is not completed within 5 days. we reserve the right to relist this vehicle or sell to any other qualified buyer. In order to secure bid on vehicle. Successful bidder (BUYER) must within 24 hours of bid closing send to Seller a Deposit in the amount of 10% by major credit card. cash in person or bank certified funds. Within 72 hours of bid closing. Buyer must send balance of funds by bank wire transfer. cash in person. bank certified funds to Seller. At time of sending initial deposit. Buyer MUST fax copy of their State issued valid Driver License. Furthermore. before said vehicle is released for shipment to Buyer. all other Sale related and title related paperwork must be signed and returned complete to Seller.
