VW Campervan 1969 - Type 2

For sale is a G reg 1969 type 2 Bay Window Campervan In April 2010 we bought “Alfred” and set about fixing him up to use him for annual camping trips and as a daily driver to work and back. When we got him he had been stored in a shed and his bodywork was in pretty good shape. His interior was more like an old fashioned gypsy caravan and all the fittings weighed a ton making him very slow. We stripped it all out and cleaned up his insides before replacing the flooring. re-carpeting and re-fitting the two ring gas cooker and grill in a storage cupboard. We fitted a new full size rock n roll bed and made new seating covers. We bought and covered new interior panels and made him comfortable for camping in. We had him resprayed purple and white in 2011 and have had the odd bit of rust cleaned up as the years have gone by. We have camped every year since we bought him and seen our little one grow up in him from baby bump to now 6 year old. We fitted brackets in the cab for an over front seat hammock for him to sleep in but now he is too big. We are including that and our awning in the sale last used beginning of June for our last camping trip. The poles need replacing really but it still went up on our last trip and worked for us no problem. The van has been a joy to us but circumstances in life and the children growing older mean it is time to let him go to a new home. After 6 years the inside decor is maybe getting a little shabby and could do with some invigoration and we had a new cap fitted to the roof which means the roof inside needs re-lining. It's mostly just decor and soft furnishings inside that need work on but it is ready to go camping in straight away if you are not so fussy. The van has a full history of what has been done to it in the garage and we have all the receipts. We have listed below everything that has been done over the past 6 years. Renew cut out jet on carburettor. supply and fit exhaust. gaskets. 24/08/15 - Wiper Blade. adjust brakes. MOT 23/10/15 - Fit new ignition switch 09/12/15 - Suspension 24/03/16 - Speedo cable fix 24/06/16 - Renew all engine electric wiring and fuel lines
