1963 1/2 Galaxie Factory Lightweight - 427 - 425HP - 4 Speed - Only 211 Built - Corinthian White with Red Interior. #78MX The 1963½ Lightweight Galaxie model was made specifically to race: lighter in weight with fiberglass doors. fenders. hood and trunk lid. plus the interior of the car was stripped. Ultra-lightweight bucket seats were added along with aluminum transmission casings and bell housings. making the lightweights several hundred pounds lighter than production-model Galaxies. With a 427-cubic inch engine producing 425 horsepower. the factory muscle car turned a quarter mile in 12. 07 seconds. About 211 Lightweight Galaxies were made in 1963. This particular Lightweight was purchased from a dealer in California registered in Oklahoma. It racing history is unknown but I do know it was raced as a yellow car and as a high riser. I do have the high riser heads that came with the car and they are dated 1963. This car has been through a frame off restoration and the motor was professionally rebuilt. It was a rust free car when restored and still retains its original shocks. brakes and body mounts etc. It is currently setup as a low riser car. If you have any questions please email me.
