We are reluctantly offering our Austin 3 Litre for sale which we have owned since 2005. we have made this decision because we simply have too many classic cars and we seem to get busier and busier and don't have as much time for them
We are dedicated enthusiasts. very knowledgeable. do all our own maintenance and you can count on our description being accurate. it's not very often we sell one of our cars but when we do we always sell it on here and we have always had delighted buyers and good feedback
This 3 Litre is finished in Faun Brown with Mushroom trim. it's one of the rarer manual transmission cars without overdrive. when we acquired it in 2005 it had stood unused since 1981
The bodywork and underside is very good. the underside is free from any visible welded repairs and has a thick coat of rustproofing wax.  The rear wheel arches have never been repaired and the original spotwelds are visible all the way round the rims.  The front wings are original and very good around the headlamps.  The headlamp mounting panels are a weak spot for rust on these cars and many have bodged repairs with ill fitting headlamps. this car is not suffering from these problems.  Also the boot floor often rusts on these models and as you can see this one has an excellent boot floor with no rust whatsoever
We replaced the front valance when we had this car. this is another weak spot. after replacing it was thoroughly rustproofed. the entire car was carefully wax injected in the sills. rear wheel arches. front cross member. all doors. boot lid and all box sections.  The car has been mainly garaged in our ownership. used only for shows and special occasions and never used in winter
The paintwork is shiny and very presentable but not concours. there are a few blemishes here and there and there is crazing to the roof but the car could still be taken straight to a show. if we were keeping it we would have it resprayed but we are extremely fussy and the paintwork in its current condition would please many people. the main thing is there is no significant rust anywhere on the car
The chrome is in good condition. there is a little surface pitting to the front bumper but the bumper is in good condition. the rear bumper is nice and shiny and the wrap around parts of the bumper are corrosion free. this isn't always the case with the 3 Litre as surface water thrown up by the rear wheels often takes its toll on these
The interior is extremely good and very original with original carpets present and in good condition. these are not perfect but very good as you can see from the photos and there's nothing like original carpets and they are irreplaceable if worn. carpet sets are available but the material is different to the original and they never look right.  The original boot carpets are also present. free from damage and excellent throughout
As you can see from the photos the wood veneers are good and the door cappings are all original and the veneers match
The seats are in excellent condition as can be seen from the photos and very comfortable
The cloth headlining is also very good
The original Radiomobile MW/LW radio and speaker are present and working.  The radio has its correct surround unique to the 3 Litre 
The engine runs very well and is beautifully smooth with no overheating issues and the oil consumption is good. the gearbox is excellent with the syncromesh very strong on all gears and has a nice precise action without any evidence of problems
The Power Assisted Steering works well and the suspension self levelling system works as it should. it does have the usual slight oil leaks but we have only ever needed to top it up about once a year and the reservoir only holds about a cupful of oil. this will give you some idea of how little it uses
The exhaust system is in good condition and two new front tyres have just been fitted. the rears have good tread
The heater works well and blows nice and warm
The Hydrolastic Suspension is very comfortable and we have had no problems at all with it during our ownership. in fact we have only topped the suspension up with our suspension pump once in our ownership
We have had no issues with the car letting in water although we try to only use it in dry weather. occasionally you get caught out and there is no evidence of any leaks into the car or boot
It has 10 months MOT. it was tested on Friday 13th May
We are confident that the winning bidder could drive the car home. however far away they live. we certainly wouldn't hesitate to go anywhere in it
Although we have every confidence in this car as with all classic cars it will be sold as seen with no warranty given or implied although we are sure the buyer will be delighted with it

The starting bid is extremely reasonable as these are a very rare car and this one is in excellent condition and ready to enjoy. if it were to fail to sell we would be quite happy to keep it but we can't see this happening
All in all this is an excellent opportunity and not to be missed. it's not every day one of these comes up for sale
