Porsche 911E 1969

Transatlantic abomination that needs nurturing back to life.
This WAS a 1969 2. 0 911E with sunroof. with an original colour of Slate Grey
Then it sadly fell into the hands of a. V8 Fan! Arrrrgh
So basically we have a 69 911E. with a very sound (no rust at all in fact) shell. around which someone has wrapped some probably rather expensive 964 bodywork. Some very non-period Carlos Fandango wheels were added and the car was painted a rather predictable vivid red colour.  
Terrible I hear you say. nbsp;Sacrilege I hear others shout. But. dear Porsche fan. it gets worse. Much worse.
Now I'm going to start by giving the perpetrator the benefit of the doubt. and I'm going to presume that the original 911E engine failed in some manner or form. And I'm also going to presume that on that particular  day the availability of alternative 911 engines was nil. and that all Porsche engine rebuilders far and wide had left planet earth.
SO. AS IS THE OBVIOUS(?) NEXT STEP - THEY FITTED A BUICK V8 ENGINE INSTEAD. !!
Again. in the spirit of fairness. it's a job pretty well done. Some rather challenging engineering problems have been overcome (somehow the engine has been made to fit on the original Porsche gearbox) and the car runs rather well - but they still need their arses kicked and the whole lot needs throwing away.
Therefore. what I'm effectively selling here. is a 69 911E Sunroof car without an engine. All of the 964 bodywork needs to be removed and the car needs to be backdated to original shape (I'd imagine the 964 panel work has a reasonable value to someone. ). It then needs returning to original colour and an engine sourced. There is a guy in the states that has a rebuilt long block 69 911E engine for sale on ebay. com - he may even be able to build it up to complete. although that might be as easy and economical to do over here. Wheels need to be acquired. as do correct front seats.
All of this sounds like an awful lot of work but you have to bear in mind two things: firstly. the car is completely structurally sound. so you are not going to be chasing seams of rust from one end of the car to the other. Rusty cars are SO much more expensive to put right. And secondly. although this will never be a matching numbers car (unless by some miracle you found the original block somewhere) the value of this car in it's finished ORIGINAL form is still going to be very high.  
Of course. some of you out there might be happy to drive the car as it is. and I'll cheerfully sell it to you. but to a fan of the marque the car is a tragedy. and needs rescuing.

The car can be viewed in a lit workshop with a ramp in Surrey.
