This Bedford is a 1941. but came with no service history. however at War & Peace show several years ago I met the chap who had originally restored her! She was left in France at the end of the War and was then in a batch that were purchased by the Dutch Army who apparently fitted new engines in the early 60's (Same engine type but new lumps!) So hence only just over 5000 miles on clock! Because she was a blank canvas and the absolute same type as my late fathers QL. I restored her as a tribute to him. Hence the markings being original as a vehicle used in WW2.

I have done a lot of work on her after having driven her back from Yorkshire!

I stripped down the Servo. cleaned and replaced the valve parts and the main leather piston a Dewart item. and restored the brake master cylinder. the Push rod was Missing! So I obtained one from bygone bedfords and fitted some new brake cylinders a few years ago. the brakes now work Very well!

I have replaced the Radiator cores they are now more efficient than the original but does not look any different! I fitted new valves and re skimmed the cylinders and fitted new head gasket.

I have also had the carburetor professionally restored. a lot of other items have been restored and have fitted quarts halogen bulbs into the headlamps (Angled lower as no dip!)

The starter motor I stripped down and fitted new brushes. fitted a new thermostat and also added an inline fuel injection filter and a Cat system. this allows her to run on unleaded fuel quite comfortably though I still add a little lead additive just for good measure!

I have also fitted a New canvass tilt and radiator cover.

The Faults!! I took the dash off when I was repainting the cab and disturbed the capillary pipe ( I Undid it!) So. needs a new Temp gauge although no more over heating since new radiator and thermostat. It was a french one anyway! So. A good old style brit one would look better even though they were not actually fitted originally! There is a perished bush on one front shock absorber arm . this is causing the arm to rub on the chassis and the only other problem is a seal behind the water pump appears to be leaking a little but this has been like this for a long time possibly due to little use! As for gear box and all other parts Transfer box etc. no problems found.

The reason for selling is only that I have now changed my job and work a split shift and I simply can't get over to her to spend any time maintaining her and I don't want her to go to waste!

As for the cabin in the back. I have built this in. it is a bit of fun in a way as it is done in the style of a country cottage. although it is fully functional as it has all the living accommodation that you would find in a caravan. It has a fold down double bed to the front and a fold down single to the side(Both are memory foam mattresses). here is a kitchenette with 2 ring burner hob. a sink and small drainer. fridge and storage under worktop. a small wardrobe. table and seating with lighting. nbsp;if you have mains electric hook up or use a genny you plug in to a socket hidden under the rear wheel arch and you then have 240 volt system as well as the 12 volt system wired in via a charger designed for horseboxes. a single mains 3 pin socket in seating area.

As for rust. the usual little bits appear around the windscreen steel from time to time but no major problems.

I have had replacement Tyres with new inner tubes fitted. these tyres came from Green Goddess stock

This vehicle is advertised elsewhere and could be removed at any time.
