Built to replace the Alfa Romeo 75 and based on the parent Group's Type three platform. the 155 was somewhat larger in dimension than the 75 and had evolved its styling from that of the previous model. The 155 was designed by Italian design house. the I. D. E. A Institute and an exceptional drag coefficient of 0. 29 was achieved with the body design. The design of the 155 allowed also for a significantly increased boot space of 525 litres.

Top of the tree was occupied by the 155 Q4. which had a 2. 0-litre turbo charged engine and a permanent four wheel drive. both of which were derived from the Lancia Delta Integrale. the Alfa 155 Q4 was essentially a Lancia Delta Integrale with a different body! The Q4 also incorporated three differential gears to control its four wheel drive system. normal at the front. epicyclic at the centre (including a Ferguson viscous coupling) and torsen self-locking at the rear. making for a sure footed driving experience. Testament to that is the performance and in stock form. the Q4 benefitted from 190bhp and a 0-60 mph time of 6. 7 seconds. pretty significant numbers when it was new and even today. the urgency of this car is apparent. With only around 2. 00 Q4's manufactured in total. and only around 17 imported from new to the UK. (all LHD) this is a rare car indeed.

This car has recently arrived from Italy and has now benefitted from a full service. new clutch. gearbox refurbishment and all four wheels have also been refurbished and shod with new tyres. Ready to be registered in the UK or elsewhere and complete with Nova certification. Very much an underrated 'Q' car. and with very small numbers available in the UK. this rare and very sporting Alfa Romeo is ready to be enjoyed now so why not stand out from and indeed. pull away from the crowd!
