Bugatti Type 55 New Build.

This Bugatti was constructed in Argentina with the minutest attention to detail using a combination of original & reproduction parts. After import to Europe with european taxes paid it was TUV matriculated in Munich Germany. Since then it has been in the very very capable hands of The Former proprietor of noted classic car experts Hofmann's of Henly. The car is currently on a UK V5 with an age related plate showing chassis number BC146.

The car constructed from assorted original & reproduction parts by South Trading of Argentina in 1993 but not registered there until 2001.

The coachwork was built to an exceptionally high standard and includes full set of carpets. dickie seat and tonneau cover to protect the front seat compartment. All professionally made to the same high standard and in new unused. condition.


Paintwork is in the original red/ black. understood to be similar to the first production car. and the whole car is almost completely indistinguishable from original. including full roller bearing crankshaft and supercharger. It was obviously a very expensive project. and their only attempt at that particular model.


Mechanically the car has been fully sorted & gone though by the current owner drawing on his decades long experience of running a classic Rolls Royce. Bentley & other Marques garage. The main running gear parts. engine. gearbox steering brakes etc. were made new to the original drawings and made by Bugatti specialists Crosshwaite & Gardner. Being a perfectionist. the current owner removed the engine & took it down to its individual components along with the axles & brakes.
Having been stripped and minutely checked they conform to Bugatti specification with special attention to engine oil tightness and tuning; the car performs as per a standard original. The car was reecently driven on a tour of Sicily in 2013 which it performed with aplonb.


Aside from that the owners heavy involvement with Rolls-Royce has given little opportunity for use and the car has lain idle. being started regularly & given regular 5 mile runs to keep it in top fettle.
It carries a full V5C and all necessary registration documents from DVLA. together with a period UK. number plate and road tools. and some spares. With original matching number cars fetching millions. this car gives an absolutely authentic looking & feeling experience. Much money has been spent in the last 8 years to source & manufacture correct components to make the car indistinguishable from an original as it left the factory.
