In July 1998. the new W220 was introduced. It was a completely
restyled S-Class; the very pinnacle of luxury from Mercedes-Benz
and sported a body that was slightly smaller and lighter than its
predecessor. It bought a renewed focus on elegance and style in a
more rounded shape compared to the preceding W140. Despite being
smaller. the W220 S-Class offered more interior space than the
W140. As expected. innovations included Airmatic air suspension and
Active Ventilated Seats (which used miniature fans in the seats to
move air through perforations). A navigation system with centre
console-mounted screen display was introduced along with the COMAND
input control system. Other options included keyless entry and
ignition. a radar-controlled Distronic cruise control system and a
cylinder shut-off system called Active Cylinder Control. The S55
AMG Kompressor was outfitted with a supercharged 5. 4 litre. 493bhp. br/>V8 engine and provides 'ample' power.

This extremely well equipped example is presented with a history
file and service records by Mercedes-Benz main agents up until 2009
and Mercedes-Benz specialists until its most recent visit in 2015
where it also benefited from an extremely expensive ABC (active
balance control) pump replacement. indeed new disks and pads were
fitted just a few weeks ago. We are informed that a full one year
MoT test certificate will also accompany the car alongside the two
original keys and two keyless cards. The condition is very good
throughout with front and rear electric sets. glass sunroof. br/>factory satellite navigation. rear blinds. bi-xenon headlamps. AMG
wheels. Keyless Go and anthracite AMG leather seating throughout.
Only used at the weekends and incredible value given the
estimate.
