The Alfa Romeo 105 series coupé was designed by Giorgetto
Giugiaro of Bertoné and was considered to be one of his greatest
designs. Not only as one of the best looking and handling classic
saloon cars of the period but the advanced specification with its
five-speed gearbox. all round disc brakes. independent suspension
and powerful twin-cam engine still has the capability to embarrass
many of its modern counterparts.

This 1972 Giulia GT example offered today started life with a
1290cc twin cam unit. As with so many of these models. a similar
engine with a larger capacity of 1962cc has been fitted. The head
was recently re-built and a reduction gear starter motor fitted but
otherwise the engine remains as standard; the major benefit of the
larger unit is the increase in engine torque and higher and more
comfortable cruising speed capabilities. In addition. the power
unit boasts a Pipercross air filter. four-branch exhaust manifold
and GTA exhaust. Other 2. 0 litre specification equipment includes
the larger front brakes and a limited slip differential. The
coachwork presents very well and. importantly. a sign that the car
is strong. the doors fit very well and open and shut with ease.
This may be attributed to the Giulia having undergone a major
restoration several years previously which included works to the
floor pans. sills and wheel arches. The bumpers have been removed
to give the Giulia a period look; a modification that is easily
restored as both bumpers are in excellent condition and will be
sold with the car. Further recent works included a new fuel tank
and clutch slave cylinder. A fast road suspension kit has been
fitted resulting in the car being flatter through corners and
giving the Giulia a slightly lower look. The interior has been
substantially re-trimmed including a new headlining. black seat
covers and parcel shelf with contrasting white piping. A full
carpet set to floors and boot. together with new dashboard veneers
are nicely finished off with the fitment of a Nardi Classico wooden
steering wheel. The Giulia is UK registered and we are advised will
arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate. The mileage
reading of 32. 00 miles cannot be substantiated; however. a number
of MoT certificates dating back to 1998 show that this Giulia GT
has only covered some 8. 00 miles over the last 17 years.

These attractive Bertone coupés are as popular as ever and with
this handsome Biancospino example being complemented with a set of
GTA style 6" x 14" alloy wheels and with further detail works
offering some distinguishing personal touches. this handsome Alfa
Romeo represents excellent value considering its modest
estimate.
