Zoom-zoom started here!  Even though the 2nd gen RX7's had been out for a few years. 1988 was the first production year of the convertible.   This low mileage. stock RX7 (just under 26k. less than 1k/yr) enthusiast owned car originally came from California (see window sticker sheet) and has been garage/pampered most of its life.   The car starts easily and roars to life readily.   The engine idles smoothly.  The clutch shifts effortlessly and the gear box is tight as you would expect for a low mileage car such as this.   The handling is crisp and the brakes stop on a dime.   The body. paint. glass. and top are all in very good condition for the year and mileage and reflect the care and attention of previous owners.   It features a sunrise red exterior with soft. supple off black/dark grey leather interior in very good condition. and an electric convertible “Targa” style roof (tonneau cover included). The Recaro inspired style seats offer firm comfort and support.  The convertible top comes with a factory windbreak which greatly reduces buffeting.  Interior features include ice cold A/C. cruise control and tilt steering. power windows and mirrors. plush Mazda floor mats. high power Pioneer component 6 speaker stereo system (powers on. see below for more info). and a factory security / theft deterrent system.   Full gauge cluster with oil pressure and voltmeter. gauge cluster controls with assorted warning lights and quartz clock round out the interior.   The ashtray and cigarette lighter have never been used. The convertible came standard with pop up halogen head lamps and BBS style high performance alloy wheels which are in very good condition (minor abrasion on one wheel. see pics; BBS center cap wrench included).   The top. which has no frays. no tears. no leaks. comes with a glass back window (not plastic) and has an electric rear window defroster.

In the spirit of full disclosure the body and paint are slightly less than show room but still in very good condition (see pics).  This car is an eye catcher! There are two or three very tiny shallow dimples on each door (you have to look very closely to find them). a few paint chips/ odd tiny scratches in random places. and about a one inch failed scratch repair that a previous owner attempted on the drivers rear quarter (could be buffed out easily if desired).   The clutch and transmission fluids were replaced about 6 years ago because the owner thought he felt an odd vibration in the pedal; mechanics found a loose bolt and the owner decided to change it all since it was already out and apart.   The front strut mount plate assemblies and front struts were replaced about 6k miles ago.   The tires and a front end alignment were done at the same time.   Tires have at least 50% tread left.   There is one small chip on the bottom of the windshield-passenger side.   One of the grommets is loose/one missing on the tonneau cover.   The battery and trunk support struts were recently replaced.  There is a small hairline crack on the front passenger signal marker. To the best of my knowledge only conventional oil has been used in this 13B.  Again. this car is in amazing condition for its age and most likely one of the lowest mileage RX7's you will find anywhere.

Pioneer stereo KE-8107ZM: The previous owner replaced/repaired the factory stereo twice. investing almost $1k.   The tuner powers on and the power antenna goes up but there is no sound.   It is most likely the amp because that was the only thing not overhauled the last time it was at the stereo repair shop. These stereos were notorious for their cold solder joints failing.   If you are like me. you can just enjoy the throaty sound of the exhaust and the revs of the rotary.   Or you can replace it with a modern after-market blue tooth/GPS unit or find a nearby factory authorized Pioneer repair depot and try your luck :+).

Included with the car is the original sticker sheet. Mazda owner's manual and 1988 model brochure. ownership history. maintenance and repair records. reference information and a Haynes manual. and a professional appraisal that was done several years ago by the previous owner for insurance purposes (mileage was just over 19k; appraised value was just over US$18k).

I have a very discerning eye and have described the current condition of the car to the best of my ability and knowledge and would be more than happy to bring the car in for an inspection at the garage/dealership of the buyers choice and at the buyers cost (there are several Mazda dealers within 30 minutes of my home).  More specific pictures available upon request; (I could only upload 24).  I am still enjoying the car so the mileage may be slightly higher (+ 100) than currently pictured.

I will work with the lucky buyer to coordinate shipping at the buyers cost.   I can also meet you at the Edmonton International Airport (YEG) with a full tank of gas if you would like to drive the car home.

Email is the best way to contact me if you have any further questions.  I work rotating shift work and will respond to you as quickly as possible.

Surprisingly low reserve. good luck and happy bidding!
