These V12's are exploding in value!!
In 1971. the Jaguar E-Type Series III introduced the V12 engine to the model. This raised the car's appeal on paper by having much more exotic specification. Jaguar called it the "Ultimate Cat" and advertised the car's inherent smoothness and absence of engine noise. these cars are beautifully designed and made to be driven

from 71 to 74 the Coupe and the Roadster was built on the longer Jag chassis which meant the Borg Warner automatic transmission was available on all V12 XKE. but the 4 Speed Manual as in this example has become much more desirable and collectable

Weighing in at 680 lbs (300 kgs) the small block V12 displaced 5. 3 liters and produced 314 horsepower. It was an all-new sohc V12 utilizing four Stromberg carburetors. it moves!

Much of the E-Type structure had to change to accommodate the new V12 including widening of the engine subframes and a wider track. This included using the Saloon rear subframe assembly which added 3. 25 inches of track for a real smooth experience.

Visually the car had a new eggcrate grill. wheel arch flares. four exhaust tips that has now become a legendary design. Mechanical upgrades included larger brake discs and a larger fuel tank as well.

Inside the V12 had an entirely new interior with new reclining seats. a plastic center console. new door panels and a revised steering wheel. The dashboard retained much of the Series II layout. but included the 2+2 stowage areas above the floorwells.

Production of the Series III roadster reached only 7. 92 cars. very rare Roadster 4 Speed. call today.

1973 JAGUAR XKE SERIES III E TYPE ROADSTER

1973 Jaguar XKE V12 Convertible Roadster E-Type Series III.   Red exterior which was painted in 2003 which still shows nicely with a few scuffs here and there but still very presentable. The factory leather seats were redone at the same time and show some wear but still in good shape.  


Recent work includes new engine rebuild. hoses. belts. fly wheel. clutch and tires done in Oct 2013 . Less than 1. 00 miles have been put on the car since.  

New brake pads installed in August 2014.   The roof is fully operational and does seal. so no water gets in.   The radio and some of the gauges don't work currrently. such as the odometer (since time of new engine install). the speedometer isn't working either but shows 92 539 miles.   The 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and runs like a top. the car has always been stored in a heated garage and started and run on a regular basis.  

Never any problems starting the car. she always fires right up and has a great purring sound.  

The vehicle has never been in an accident of any kind. beautiful and clean no hit body.
Brakes are good. windshield is good. hood and trunk all operate normally and no signs of rust.
