Car location: Moncton, NB, Canada
Seller's notes: A-code, Gorgeous color combo, perfect stance, fast and quick, loaded with newer tech to make it stop and turn. The best part is the engine and the sound it makes, but a close second is the stunning interior that looks like a hybrid design from the 2005 Mustang. 18-inch Bullitt wheels were narrowed so that they would right in the wheel wells. This began as an original C-code car with a 289 and a four-speed.

1965 Mustang 2+2 A code
I bought this car as a fully-restored A-code with a 289 4V and four-speed. 14-inch wheels. etc. . and then went to work to make it more drivable with modern suspension components and big brakes. which necessitated larger wheels and real tires. The idea quickly evolved into bringing forward some of the more tasteful design elements of the 2005 Mustang. centering mostly on the interior. I did not want to mess with the exterior of the car at all. The result is a tire-frying Mustang that effortlessly revs to 7. 00 RPM. has rack-and-pinion steering. four-wheel-disc brakes and the famous Griggs Racing GR40 watt's link/coilover rear suspension that ditches the old leaf springs out back. The car has a great “Eleanor”-like lope and sound and people gather when it's parked. The following are the salient points:
ENGINE. 331 V8
Dynoed at 482 horsepower/440 pound-feet (sheets included with the car). About 550 miles since the build. Formerly a 289. replaced with a 331-cubic-inch stroker (based on a 302 block). Comp roller cam. AFR heads. 10:1 CR. March pulley system. aluminum rad. etc. The total cost of the engine program. including dyno time. was $13. 00. The car is scary quick . . .
INDUCTIONEdelbrock Performer RPM dual plane. custom assembled Proform/Holley 800 DP. NASCAR carbon-fiber airbox.
EXHAUSTHooker four-into-one headers. nbsp;Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 series mufflers and custom-fitted/welded 2. 5-inch exhaust system (to snake through the Griggs rear suspension) made with mandrel-bent sections. Olds 442 trumpet tips.
TRANSMISSIONTremec T5 five-speed manual conversion. cable clutch. Centerforce II clutch. Hurst billet short-throw shifter.
REAR AXLEFord Motorsports 8. 8 (narrowed four inches) with 3. 50 gears and Eaton Truetrac no-slip differential.
REAR SUSPENSIONGrigg's Racing watts link with torque arm. Aldan Eagle coilover billet-aluminum shocks. $10. 00 installed including new diff.
FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERINGStrut bar kit. bump-steer kit. lowering modifications. KYB shocks. Afco anti-roll bar. Flaming River manual rack-and-pinion steering.
FRONT BRAKES2004 Ford Mustang Cobra. PBR calipers with 13-inch rotors. Wilwood manual master cylinder.
REAR BRAKESWilwood 12. 2-inch discs with four-piston polished billet calipers. with e-brake kit.
WHEELSAftermarket 2004 Mustang Bullitt 18x10 and 18x9. nbsp;narrowed to 18x8. 25 and 18x7 to tuck up inside the wheel wells. Narrowing done by Weldcraft in Michigan.
TIRESBridgestone RE050A Pole position. 245/45-18 and 215/40-18
INTERIORSeating designed to resemble a 2005 Mustang. Extensive overhaul with refoamed/rebolstered (new) Procar seats and custom matching front/rear coverings. Autometer gauges. JME stainless-steel bezel and glove-box door. Flaming River tilt column and Shelby steering wheel. All metal trim either repainted. covered or replaced. Cost $12. 00. including new hardware.
CHASSIS MODSWhen the sticky tires were put on. the chassis flex was readily noticeable. Custom sub-frame connectors and cross-bracing. front torque boxes.
EXTERIORRestored and rust-free when I bought the car. and it's so clean that it's really tough to tell what. if anything has been replaced. (Possibly floors. possibly rear quarters. ) Fiberglass hood incorporates later 1967-style scoop. Original hood available. but it does not fit over the engine in its current state. Car is painted “JP18 Barredo red (code 448)”
OTHER GOODIES OF NOTEFesler Billet hood hinges. Total Control tower brace package. Cobra tethered gas cap. Secret Audio head unit (looks like stock radio) with a 10-disc CD changer. Foose Arc Audio amplifier. Foose Arc Audio kick-panel component speakers and Rockford Fosgate 10-inch subwoofer in the truck. Interior is NOT cut up at all.
