Land Rover : Defender 90

Land Rover 90 for sale on behalf of a customer

Due to a change in plans. this vehicle is now reluctantly being offered for sale as an abandon project.

My company imported this vehicle for the customer and a container was shared with another car – the paperwork is in the current owner's name and I am acting as an agent

It is right hand drive. but as this is a 25 year old truck it can be registered for use in Quebec

1985 V8 5 speed (was converted in Europe from 4 cylinder petrol)

Good engine and transmission

Engine has carburettors so no fancy electronics

Frame is very good - had recent new rear cross member fitted

Brakes good

Bulkhead good at top but may need small attention in the footwell – passed inspection so not too bad

Drives well – plenty of power – been used as an off road car at one point

Cloth seats are clean

Twin Kenlow electric fan

New brake pipes in copper alloy

New battery

Steering guard

A bar with 2 x spotlights

New Ignitor coil fitted

Air horns (not working)

Has UK / Canadian papers and GST paid. it has been inspected in Quebec but requires some small jobs to pass. (See below)

I can do the necessary repairs in order to be used in Quebec and will charge my hourly rate – the parts required are not expensive.

Bad points

Carbs require adjusting - I do not have the right tool here – it is about $35 on-line

Needs a good cleaning out

Heater blower motor seized

Aluminium elbow missing from carb (filter was fitted direct to carb)

Fuel pump needs replacing – it has an after-market pump fitted to get it running

The under bonnet wiring is messy – had LPG fitted previously and not all wires removed – but I think the last owner cut the horn wire

Has had side windows fitted but now covered over – aperture is still there and I may have a pair of used ones on the shelf

Summary

An ideal starter project – lots of potential for summer fun!

Can be made into a pick up or canvas top

For the reserve price that is being asked you would find it difficult to buy and import a similar vehicle.

Quebec inspection is quite strict. so for the amount of work needed to pass it must be pretty good

US bidders please note - this car should have a 4 cylinder petrol engine fitted - it will be refused entry if the engine does not match the VIN

I do not have an engine available - you will have to either adapt the engine to fit the V8 transmission or provide a 4 cylinder transmission to match the 4 cylinder petrol engine
