As far as icons go. the Porsche Speedster is certainly one of the world's most recognizable cars. This remarkable roadster (it almost seems a shame to call it merely a "replica") is the closest thing you're going to find to motorized sneakers. With a seriously potent power-to-weight ratio and handling that borders on telepathic. you probably can't have more fun with four wheels.


With curves like this. especially those wildly flared fenders. you don't need flashy paint. Instead. they wisely chose an elegant graphite gray metallic that shows off the Speedster's iconic shape. The fiberglass body with those big fenders is perhaps what a 356 Turbo might have looked like should such a thing have existed in the 1950s. It's aggressive. sleek. and carries itself with the pugnaciousness of a bulldog. Correct Speedster details abound. giving it a very authentic look that probably won't appeal to purists. but everyone else will definitely dig it. Check out the big headlights. the miniature bumperettes. the tiny grilles and parking lights. and the single vent on the rear deck lid. And as a long-time Speedster fan. I've always admired the side mirrors. which are miniature works of art that look fast. Add in a chopped-down windshield and this car looks like it'll do 200 MPH.


The Speedster was always basic. but it was the kind of basic that told you that someone did it on purpose and with a bit of flair. That tradition continues in this sinister speedster. with gorgeous tan leather seats that are both minimalist and artistic. recalling the past without duplicating it. Matching door panels contrast with gray carpets and a two-tone dash. The finish quality is tangible. from the seams in the carpet to the reproduction gauges. and there aren't many original Speedsters that were this nice. even when new. A Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel gives it a vintage feel and the 4-speed shifter is only inches away. so it's a joy to drive. and with an AM/FM/CD stereo under the dash. it offers alternative entertainment when you're just cruising. There's a minimalist top that's purely for emergencies. but it fits well and folds easily. and you'll keep it stashed under a matching black canvas tonneau most of the time anyway.


Believe it or not. the original Speedsters were not horsepower monsters. but instead blended entertaining handling with a great power-to-weight ratio. However. this one packs a steroid-injected 2. 1L flat four fed by dual Webers and makes the Speedster feel more like a rocket sled than an automobile. The engine bay is full of new gear that sparkles. from the billet air cleaners to the ignition to the alternator. which looks a lot like a vintage piece. There's a fresh clutch with fewer than 3000 miles on its face. and it feeds a 905 heavy-duty 4-speed manual gearbox. Underneath. the pan has been undercoated to control heat and noise. and the Monza exhaust sounds fantastic. with all traces of Beetle soundtrack thoroughly erased. The 17-inch alloys were modeled after traditional Fuchs alloys and look gigantic on the tiny Speedster and are wrapped in 225/45/17 front and 255/40/17 rear performance radials.


This Speedster offers fast fun all out of proportion to its sticker price. Finish quality is exemplary. and man. it looks fantastic. Call today!

TERMS OF SALE  

1. Per the eBay User Agreement. by placing a bid you are entering into a legally binding contract and are committed to purchasing the vehicle described above. The details of this commitment are further outlined in the eBay User Agreement.

2. Vehicle may be sold by Streetside Classic Cars prior to the end of the auction. Streetside Classic Cars reserves the right to end its auctions early or to cancel bids solely at its discretion and shall not be held liable for any such cancellation.

3. The winning bidder is required to contact Streetside Classic Cars within 24 hours after the close of the auction to finalize the details of the transaction.

4. A $1. 00 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction's close.   This deposit reserves the vehicle and removes it from the market. Acceptable payment types for deposit are: credit card. wire transfer. cashier's check. and money order.

5. If winning bidder does not contact Streetside Classic Cars and submit deposit within 48 hours of auction close. vehicle may be made available to the next highest bidder or another qualified buyer on a first come. first serve basis.

6. Streetside Classic Cars has represented this vehicle to the best of its ability. Prospective bidders are encouraged to contact us directly to provide additional information or answer any questions.

7. Please be aware that all pre-owned vehicles. regardless of age. mileage. or manufacturer are subject to cosmetic wear and mechanical failure. Streetside Classic Cars encourages bidder to have a personal inspection completed prior to delivery to help ensure your satisfaction. Third party inspections are to take place prior to a vehicles shipment or delivery.

8. All vehicles are sold "AS IS" and with no warranties expressed or implied.

9. Final or winning bid price does not include shipping. tax. title. or registration fees. It is the purchaser's responsibility to provide for any state or local taxes and shipping expenses resulting from the sale.

10. We can assist you in delivery through our network of private and commercial carriers. Most of them can deliver the vehicle to your driveway. We assume no responsibility for damages or delays incurred once a vehicle is in a shipper's custody.

11. Streetside Classic Cars bears no liability and shall be held harmless for any complications. expenses. or damages resulting from a failure to meet these terms as they have been set forth and established herein.

12. An additional documentation fee of $199 will be added to the purchase price at the time of sale.
