The incredible Pininfarina styling of the Testarossa launched Ferrari into the mainstream media and onto the wall of every boys bedroom. this is THE Poster car of the 80s. it was the perfect car for the time matching the style of large block mobile phones. shoulder pads and the fax machine. Sergio Pininfarina called the Testarossa “an exaggeration in flamboyance. ” Covered in a glossy coat of Rosso Corsa this iconic supercar does not disappoint. it is in wonderful condition having been in the hands of just 3 owners from new. The huge rear end on this UK supplied car makes quite the impression and was designed to improve engine cooling and cabin comfort over its predecessor. The lights. front and hidden at the rear all remain in excellent condition as do the rubber seals and plastics that adorn the stylish and unmistakable body.
INTERIOR
The Cream leather is a classic combination with the red exterior. It has weathered over the last 25 years well. remaining clean and tidy while still exuding an original patina that can get lost in fully restored cars. The interior. made up of the black dash. red carpets and cream leather adds for an encompassing retro supercar feel. with the gated gear stick sat proudly as the centre of attention. The day glow orange font of the Veglia dials are unmistakably 80′s and complete this wonderfully kitsch cabin.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The engine was the first four valves per cylinder flat twelve cylinder configuration unit fitted in a Ferrari road car. With almost 400bhp the Testarossa was acknowledged as one the first true supercars and despite it's dimensions. quite the approachable. co-operative and hospitable GT. Sound on start up evokes all kinds of wonderful Italian history – the controls are heavy when cold. but as the car goes through it's warm up routine this Ferrari demands revs to deliver on its supercar promise with layers of sound. before and after the exhaust note you can even hear the radiators working. With a full service history the mechanics of this car are excellent. A recent cambelt and full fluid service means this car is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.
WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The 5-bolt wheel pattern adopted in mid 1988 for the Testarossa is a classic speedline design. These sit in fantastic shape and condition. free of curb marks and shod in an up-to-date matching set of Bridgestone Potenza So-2′s. Brakes with 4 piston ATE calipers provide good feel and pull the car up without any excessive movement. play or pull.
HISTORY FILE
This UK RHD car was delivered new on 06/01/89 by JCT600 via Maranello concessionaires to its first owner in Yorkshire where the car has stayed local to this day. The current owner has had the pleasure of custodian over the past 19 years and has known the car from new along with its first and second owner.
A wholly original and honest car with a history file that is packed with service invoices from some of the biggest names in Ferrari servicing. JCT600 and Italia Autosport with recent servicing by Strasse. Leeds. The original service book is present and stamped up to date with full and regular servicing backed up by service invoices. This Red head has had its belts changed no less than 7 times in its life. the most recent in August 2014 along with camcover gaskets and complete fluid service. The clutch was replaced at 26K miles.
There is a large stack of MOT certificates dating back to 97 with mirroring Tax discs neatly laid out and stuck to a sheet of A4. The original leather book pack completes the excellent history file along with all UK owner manuals and a spare set of keys.
