You are viewing my 1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 rolling body.  Originally a 5. 7L V8 (eighth digit in VIN is "L" for Z28) from the factory with automatic transmission. a previous owner was in the process of making it into a drag car.   I bought this car 14 years ago and just didnt do much with it and it has been in indoor storage under my ownership.

This vehicle does NOT come with an engine or transmission - again is it a rolling chassis.

I was starting to part it out and have also removed all the air effects but will include them loose with the car (photos shown).  People have been writing me asking about the whole car so I will try and see if anybody really wants the whole car.

My recommendation for next owner is two fold:  (1) either complete a drag car to your satisfaction or (2) use the good parts (and there are many) to restore a car with a good interior but a shot body. and sell/use the drag car trappings as you see fit.  You could try to put it on the road with a new powertrain but you will need to do quite a few things to pass a safety inspection if required in your state and/or make the car streetable again. hence my recommendations above.

The body has an 8 point roll cage (welded). drag seat driver side with harness. a regular Camaro passenger seat (black) and rear seat (white). both in fair condition. a racing ratchet shifter. aluminum drag racing dash with Auto Meter-brand gauges had replaced the original dash. fuel pump shutoff switch. trunk mounted battery. stock gas tank with performance sump to accommodate drag racing fuel filter canister. and a battery shut-off switch in the trunk.

There is no power steering. and the car has power front disc/rear drum brakes. and a tilt steering column.  The GM 10-bolt rear end appears to be stock and I believe a 3:42:1 ratio.  I am including all the additional gauges shown in the interior photo but not the gauge shown underhood (it was removed).  The dual exhaust is fairly new and will be included with the car. as well as the driveshaft and OEM radiator.

The vehicle has been repainted as it originally was white.  We noted during the refinishing that it is completely rust-free (all body sheet metal. underside. inner fenders. etc. ) meaning original metal with no rust holes or repairs.  The cowl-induction hood (air intake doors under cowl are intact). door skin. fenders. quarters. windshield. back glass. lights and trim parts. etc. . are in very good driver quality condition.    I dinged the front passenger side corner of the front fascia as shown.

Note the doors do NOT have glass mounted. do NOT operate with outside handles. and the factory door impact plates have been removed (as were the glass lift mechanisms) to save weight.  The passenger door glass is shown in the front seat.  I do have the both door glasses and will include with the car.

The wheels and tires shown 15x7 and 15x10 chrome plated steel wheels (driver quality). 245/60 and 295/60 tires (old so not worth very much) that come with the car as well. I am kinda tossing them in for free so the car can be transported more easily.   The lug nuts are INCORRECT for this style wheel (due to the 3 inch studs on all four wheels) . they are just keeping the tires on so vehicle can be moved around.  DO NOT DRIVE CAR LIKE THIS. you will lose a wheel or two. or worse.

I hope it finds a good home.

AUCTION SUCCESS CONSIDERATIONS

I have established a reasonable price or this 1981 Camaro Z28 as well as allowed opportunity to make offers.  You could not buy all these good parts for the price in this auction. this is not a junk car but rather one in transition and that's why there is a price discount as it will take effort to make it a drag car fully or use it for parts. or put it on the road.

Note that I reserve the right to end this auction at any time at my sole discretion.

Encountering non-paying or unresponsive bidders is a very disruptive event that makes the auction experience unpleasant for both the seller and any legitimate potential buyer(s). Please BE SURE BEFORE YOU BID that you have done whatever you need to do to STAND BEHIND the actual bid(s) YOU MADE and were recorded during the auction.

If you have bid on and won any of my items in the past and then did not honor your bid(s). if you have made and then canceled a bid that met a reserve. or if you have agreed with me on price after the auction ended but then did not complete the transaction. you are not eligible to bid.
