Porsche : 911 Targa for sale
Current customer rating: (182 votes ) based onI have for sale my 1972 Porsche 911T Targa. With the recent rise in long hood values and the fact this car has the original engine; I decided it will be in better hands of a more experienced car collector.
The 1972 model year is quite rare due to the addition of the oil filler door on the rear RHS. The oil door is in place and works as it should. I have the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The original color was Aubergine.
History
The 911T was purchased from the Porsche dealership in HighlandIndiana on June 28. 1972. The car was purchased by a Canadian and it was imported to Winnipeg. Manitoba. I believe the owner moved to Ontario in 1973 and sold the car to a person in Windsor. Ontario in 1976. I'm the 7th owner of the car. I have the names of all the previous owners and the original maintenance record book.
I have some service records but they are not complete. The car went through an extensive glass out restoration in the past. It is been enthusiast owned and a weekend driver for at least the past 12 years. Service records indicate approximately 10. 00 miles have been put on the car since 2002.
Engine / Transmission
The 911 has the original motor and I believe the original 5 speed transmission. I have confirmed the engine number with the Certificate of Authenticity but do not have a lift to confirm the transmission number. The motor is currently equipped with Weber carbs but the fuel console and MFI pump studs are still on the car. The engine also has the correct color engine shroud for the 1972 MFI engine.
I have only driven the car occasionally since I purchased it. The car runs smoothly and idles well. It has good pressure on start up and idle. It shifts well and smoothly. The car does seep some oil. I think it is coming from the upper valve cover area. but I can't be sure. The car has been sitting for some time in a dry garage.
MFI System
I have the correct MFI system for the car included with the sale. This is the complete system including the MFI injection pump. fuel pump. throttle bodies. stacks. air cleaner. nbsp;injectors and hard fuel lines. The MFI pump turns smoothly but I have not tested it further. This complete system is very valuable addition to the sale.
Exterior / Body
The exterior looks very good. The paint looks great. The car is currently red but came from the factory in Aubergine. The 911T currently has a fiberglass ducktail installed but I have the original engine lid included in the sale. The front bumper is a fiberglass S bumper. The targa top is in very good condition with no rips and tears.
The car had a glass out paint job and full restoration prior to my purchasing it. Although the car looks really good it was not restored by a Porsche enthusiast. There is evidence of patches welded in the floor pans and rocker repair etc. I am not saying it was poorly done but for example I would have replaced the floor pans instead of patching them. There is now some evidence of rust starting in the front floor pan area and rear underbody. I will attach pictures.
Interior
The interior of the car looks really good. The dash was replaced and only has some minor cracks around speaker area. the seats were redone with a red cloth insert. not to my taste but still looks good. The car has the S package and gauges. The steering wheel is a very rare early Momo Prototipo.
Shipping / Payment
Shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser. I will ship to Canada. USA and Europe. I live in a city that has a port (Port of Saint John) and am only 400kms from the Port of Halifax. so shipping to Europe should not be an issue.
I will work with shipper to make the process as painless as possible. I understand I'm selling the car in winter and at a busy time of year with Christmas fast approaching. I will store the car for 1 month after the auction end but will have to charge $80/month for indoor storage after that until the car is picked up by the shipper.
I require a deposit of $500 paid within 3 days of the auction end and payment in full within 3 weeks.
Please do not bid if you don't have the funds to complete the purchase. Ask questions now. please do not try to negotiate the purchase after you win the auction.
Please no scammers. I will require balance of funds by certified cheque or bank wire transfer from a major chartered bank. I will not ship the car until I receive confirmation from my bank the funds cleared. I will work with the purchaser to ensure the sale is as painless as possible.
The sale is strictly AS IS . WHERE IS. No warranties are given or implied. The sale is Final. . no returns. Vehicle inspections are welcome for bidders located in the area.
Thanks for looking and Happy Bidding!!
