1981 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV 2000L - 33k Miles

One of the rarer classic sporting Alfa Romeos. the Alfetta GTV was intended to replace the 105 Series 2000 GTV. While the classic Alfa ‘Nord' twin cam was carried over. the new car used the transaxle layout of the Alfetta saloon and a rakish coupé body that echoed styling aspects of the Montreal.

With 105 Series Alfas continuing to rocket in value. the Alfetta GTV is quickly following in its footsteps as car to buy now. and truly appreciated for the great driver's cars they are.

However. early models. with slim chrome bumpers and a considerably more attractive purity of style. are exceptionally rare in right-hand drive. Apparently just 16 GTV 2000L models are currently on the road in the UK. so we are very excited to offer this very low mileage. remarkably original. two-owner example.

Alfa concessionaire. Roy Owen of Portsmouth. first registered this 1981 GTV 2000L in November 1981. Its first owner had the piece of mind to have the car professionally rustproofed as soon as he took delivery. The Alfa then remained in the same family until 2012. by which time it had covered just 32. 00 miles. Then it was purchased by an Italian car collector who embarked on a light restoration/recommissioning. This included a full professional repaint in its original white. new brake calipers. hoses and master cylinder. rebuilt carburettors and a rebuilt distributor with an electronic ignition conversion. After the repaint the body was rust proofed once more with cavity wax.

Most recently the original Michelin tyres have been replaced with a set of new Michelins and the Campagnolo alloy wheels professionally refurbished.

Thanks to being rustproofed when new and little used. the body is totally rust free and original underneath. The paintwork is superb. as is all the bright work. It still has its original Roy Owen dealer sticker in the rear window. The grey velour interior is fabulous and totally original with hardly any signs of wear. All the gauges and electrical equipment work correctly.

We have all the original owners pack/manuals with service vouchers. which are in superb condition.

This GTV's low mileage is borne out in the driving experience. The controls are tight and precise. the engine lusty. and the gearbox free from any crunching. There is also no wind noise thanks to the excellent door and window rubbers. And. being a twin cam Alfa. it's also tremendous fun to drive.

A very rare opportunity for the Alfa Romeo collector.
