1983 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler 350 V8

Rare opportunity to buy a piece of history. only 5 years of Scrambler production!  With a scrambler you have an extra 24 inches in length which gives you a small truck bed!  This 1983 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler has; fiberglass body (all but hood and tailgate). bed mat. 99% rust free frame. 4" rough country suspension lift. 1" body lift. 35" Mickey Thompson BAJA's new in 2012 (maybe 1000 miles). Chevy 350 w 4 bbl. T18 Trans 4 speed non synchronized 1st crawler gear. new clutch last summer. nbsp;dana 20 transfer case. new front drive shaft. new CV rear shaft. new Warn front and rear bumpers with shackles. Boomerang shackles front and rear to prevent leaf spring inversion. nbsp;new Warn 8000# winch. diamond plate rockers. new front rotors and pads. widetrack dana 30 front with new mechanical locker. widetrack dana 44 rear with detroit locker. yes this is a true dana 44 widetrack produced for 6 months only in 1986 when Chrysler ran out of AMC20 rear ends. both front and rear are true widetracks. not shortened! both 4:56 gears. DOM rock rails welded to frame. new exhaust pipes and Cherry bombs. new master cylinder. nbsp;JK quick release stabilizer disconnects. new seat belts. kenwood radio. new cb never installed. mechanical fan converted to new flexo-lite electric fan with adjustable thermostat. new tach on column.   Has front leaf spring shackle reversal. new plug wires. new cap and rotor. new aluminum valve covers.   Original seats in very good condition.  You might have seen this monster around. it draws attention everywhere I go!  20k invested with best parts. receipts go with. Few opportunities to buy a scrambler. especially one with this great frame and the fiberglass body is worth thousandssssss alone - no rust body future!!!!

Engine runs strong always starts never left anywhere. roller rockers. other mods.   Jeep was built up over the last 1. 5 years.   Previously owner advised the engine was built and added and odometer reset which would mean around 9000 miles on rebuild??. . owever actual mileage is not known to me. but also doesn't matter with nearly everything replaced.   No engine leaks. period.   Jeeps tracks very straight with very. very little correction necessary at any speed.
What it needs. new top (half soft top comes with. top frame is complete but vinyly saw better days). fuel line re-ran. gas gage doesn't work (shocker) slight drip from Tranny to adapter. just wasn't enough rtv from install. parking brakes need connected. reverse lights need hooked up and a paint job if you wanna show it!  This is the bad. there's not more that I am aware of bad which is pretty damn good for a 30 year old monster!

 Runs. drives everywhere (i mean absolutely anywhere). very dependable. driven often. nbsp;great fun and ohhhh what looks you will get.

Why selling?  Ready for next project. only reason. period.   It's really a great jeep. I hate to see it go.
