The Mark III was created when Lee Iacocca. president of Ford Motor Company at the time. directed Design Vice President. Gene Bordinat. to "put a Rolls Royce grille on a Thunderbird"in September 1965. The Mark III was based on the Thunderbird model. hich was first introduced for 1967. Iacocca wanted to put the Thunderbird's development investment to better use than just the Thunderbird model alone. which "was dying in the marketplace. " Instead. Ford would use that investment as a platform for several models but no other Luxury Coupe was as successful as the stunning Mark III design. big power with the 460 CID V8. stunning exterior design from front to back. and high end luxurious interior powered with all the options!!!! It blew away its competition in the day. the Cadillac Eldorado. and changed Lincoln Luxury for ever. Purchased from the Daughter of the Original owner.

The Exterior Paint has a nice shine and is very presentable.
It has had one repaint in the Original color. paint stamp on the underside of the trunk lid is still there and visible.
Nice Straight Body with only minor nicks and scratches.
The Exterior Chrome has been replated and gleams along with the front grill assembly.
The Stainless Trim and Emblems are also in good original condition with no dings.
The Bodyside Molding is a little faded and has shrunk a bit. but an easy fix.
The Headlight Buckets operate smoothly and go up and down as they should.
The Exterior Glass is all in great shape with no cracks or chips.
Original Hubcaps all around and sitting on very slightly worn tires in great shape.

The Interior is in good Original condition.
The Leather Seats have some cracking but are still presentable as you can see by the photos.
The Headliner is in perfect shape.
The Door Panels and Dash are very presentable.
The Interior Carpet appears to be Original and shows some wear. is an easy replacement.
The Wood Trim inside which is usually stained and cracking is in perfect shape. very rare.
The Radio is non operational but all the Gauges work as they should.
The Wipers. Heater. Fan all work as they should but the Factory AC needs to be serviced.
The Power Windows work as they should in the Front. but the Rears need a hand assist.

The Engine Compartment is nicely detailed showing price of ownership and maintenance.
The Chassis is really spotless and was undercoated in areas but where that has flaked off you can see how solid the floor pans and frame rails are.
