The Twister Special was a limited edition specialty model in 1970.   Actual production was 90 Torino Cobras and all were Vermillion (Calypso Coral).   All the Torino Cobra Twister Specials were 429's. either CJ or SCJ.   60 were automatics and 30 were 4 speeds.   Today. there are only 13 4-speed Twisters known to still exist. and this is one of them.

This particular car is an original 4 speed Twister. not a clone. replica. or tribute car.   Like all the Twisters. it was performance oriented and had no A/C. power steering or power brakes.   It's a high end daily driver with extensive documentation and receipts from previous owners and has been listed in the Twister Registry for many years.   Several Twister Registry newsletters are included in the documentation. along with a Marti report.

The car was drag raced for a time. then in the 80's it was taken off the street and the owner began to restore it.   Unfortunately. he died while the car was being restored.   The car then changed hands several times over the years. but the restoration was never completed.   I bought the car 4 years ago. and my brother and I began finishing the restoration work.   We took great care to use OEM and NOS parts where possible. to keep the original configuration of the car.   Virtually everything on the car has been gone through and is either new. rebuilt. or replaced.   This includes the front suspension and steering linkage. radiator and radiator hoses. all new brakes and brake hardware. new stainless steel brake lines. new gas tank with stainless steel lines. new front and rear shocks and new exhaust.   We stripped the car to the bare shell and painted the interior.   The underside of the car was sandblasted. primed with acid etch primer and painted semi-gloss black.   The body was prepped and repainted in the correct Calypso Coral color.   The engine and engine compartment have also been painted and detailed.   The interior has new carpet and backing.   The front seat was recovered in the original factory pattern.   The dash pad is original and has no cracks or tears.

The engine and transmission both appear to have been rebuilt by a previous owner.   We pulled the oil pan and valve covers. then pulled a rod cap to check the bearings.   The bearings were new. the engine internals were clean and everything was still coated in assembly lube.   We also found receipts for various parts such as the new bearings in the paperwork that came with the car.   Likewise. the transmission cover was pulled and the transmission was checked.   It has a new Centerforce clutch and McLeod flywheel and the rear end gears have been changed to a set of Richmond Excels in the correct 3. 50 gear ratio.   Today. the car shows 60. 00 miles. which appears to be accurate. given its history.   It runs well. needs nothing. is a huge amount of fun to drive. and gets a lot of attention on the street.

Prospective buyers are welcome to see the car in person and go for a test drive before the auction ends.   It's licensed. insured. registered and on the road.   I'm available pretty much anytime. so just contact me to make arrangements.   A winning bid is a legally binding contract to purchase. so I expect the winning bidder to follow through.   The car is sold without warranty.   The car is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early.  A $1000 non-refundable down payment is due 3 days after the auction ends and payment in full is due within one week.   Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. but I can help with loading.   I will store the car temporarily. but it must be picked up within 3 weeks or storage charges will apply.   In New York. older cars such as this one do not have a title. ownership transfer is done by signing over the vehicle registration to the new owner.   Thanks for looking.
