For sale. my 1975 Porsche 914.   I have owned the car since 2006 and it is mostly restored at this point. The engine is a 1. 8 liter. and is still fuel injected. It will be difficult to remember and list all that I have done or had done to the car but here we go. Mechanically the car runs. shifts. and stops well. It is smog exempt in California. The car has always been covered. (even when it looked bad) and has been driven locally and sparingly.

New paint job. Paint is 3 months old. Dents removed. rust removed. new windshield. new trunk bottom at time of paint.

New rubber seals throughout the car. Targa seals. doors. side marker lights. brake lights. rear window. windshield. trunks. etc.   I bought a kit from 914 rubber and misc. others not included in the kit

New door panels. Some former owner put speakers in the doors. so the panels had to go. The new ones look nice and are fiberglass. not cardboard. You get the old ones; the fabric is not in bad shape and can be used on the dash.

New pioneer CD/radio with new floor mounted speakers in the proper location in the car.

New battery (2 months old)

I bought the wheels used. They were an option for the car and look much nicer that the stock wheels. which I have retained and come with the car as part of the “parts bonanza” listed below.

Reconditioned gas tank. mass airflow unit. and various other parts to keep the engine tuned and running properly.

What still needs to be fixed.

Heater: The former owner unhooked the heater claiming it smelled. Living in Bakersfield Ca. . the heater was not critical to me so I never have fixed it. In working under the car. the heat exchangers are present and the blower is installed. If you live in a cold climate you might want to fix it.

Horn: Just quit. probably an easy fix.

Windshield washer: I didn't fix this on purpose. Believe it or not the darn thing is pressurized by the spare tire. Supposedly. there is a valve which prevents the spare tire from going flat. If you want this to work I would suggest a reservoir with an electric pump. (I think they made one for the 914-6)

Odometer: The mileage was on 22000 when I bought it and the odometer worked.   It quit with 27000 on it and I have probably driven it <1000 miles since it quit. So I have driven it approx. 6000 miles in 8 years. As to how many times it has “gone around” I have no idea. The rest of the gauges work fine.

The seats. carpets. and dash are in various stages of wear. and if I kept the car that is where my next cash outlay would go.

Parts bonanza: Car cover. rubber parts not installed (due to the condition of some of the old ones). light bulbs. 3 shop manuals. original wheels. jack bracket (to use with a floor jack to easily lift the car). used fog lights. clips to hold the top in the rear trunk. and some other small items.

So. why am I selling it? Well. this is my third 914. and at age 62. I guess I have outgrown the car. (I was in my 20's when I bought the first 2). I have not driven this one much. mainly to the golf course and errands to keep it running. If I buy another Porsche. I want one with a cup holder. air conditioning and cruise control. This little guy IS fun to drive. ask anyone who has owned one. Finally. this car is 40 years old and is sold as is. If you need to have it shipped. I will assist but the cost is on you. I am advertising this car locally and it could sell while bidding is taking place.
