1968 Mustang Convertible w/ 5. 0 Roller Motor I bought this car in 2004 from Cooper Cars in North Carolina - they specialize in classic Mustangs.
In 2005 I went in to have the original 302 rebuilt. but saw a 1992 5. 0 roller motor on the stand. I asked Mark (the owner) what that was for. It told me a fellow commission him to build a race motor but couldn't pay the balance due.
I promptly told him. forget the 302 - Bolt that baby in!
Along with the motor we added the following:
-> Competition cam-> Edelbrock high-rise manifold-> Holly 650cfm four barrel carburetor-> A set of headers-> and a set of Flowmasters-> A set of ORIGINAL Magnum 500 wheels (these came off of a Shelby)-> new center wheel caps
Although this car is a screamer. I have not run the 'Dog-Snot' out of it - I drive it gently but it will blow the doors off most newer mustangs should you want to. My son asked me why I had this built into such a fast car if I never drive fast. I told him. "Son. I just want to know I could. "
Alright. I'll fess up. In shortly after the fifth generation Mustang came out (returning to the old skool - retro look) I was coming back from a car show when A new Mustang GT pulled up beside me on the highway. He gave me thumbs up. then punched it and took off like a rocket. After he crested the hill. I just couldn't help it - I pushed that old girl up over the hill. and with a throaty roar blew by him and in 30 seconds couldn't even see him in my mirrors. Just had to let the kid know the Old Dogs still rule!
And since then I've added:
-> AM/FM CD player-> MTX Speakers-> Guardian Perimeter Sensor Alarm system (The little green box you see in the pictures is part of this system. nbsp;but I normally leave my cup holder - coin tray over that module)
This is a four on the floor (manual transmission) model (no center console).
I only drive it in nice weather and can honestly say. I'v never taken it out without getting comments like "Cool car" and thumbs up. Just this afternoon I went to the corner to pick up a pizza and when i came out there were five people (three of them cute ladies) standing around it and commenting. This is typical. so if you're an anti-social type this car ain't for you.
You'll also get a lot o comments on the sound this baby makes. Even at idle with that Bad-Ass loping only the old muscle cars make.
Just yesterday I heard from a company in Miami that procures cars for TV shows and movies - I'll give you their info if you're interested. Maybe they can make you a star too! You never know.
In all I've only put 9000 miles on it since the new engine was put in. I used to shoe it a lot (and I'll throw in a box of trophies if you like) but haven't in a number of years. With a little spit and polish she could be back making waves on that circuit again.
In the pictures you'll also see I have the Tach mounted on the column. but if you prefer I have a 'new in box' tach that goes in the dashboard where the spacer is for the clock (which this model didn't have). I just like the big one on the column. but a couple of screw twists and you could have a smaller in-dash one instead. I also put in a set of white face gauges. but I kept the originals if you wanted to revert back.
Other than that. the only thing that takes it away form an entirely stock appearance is the Grant steering wheel. the original was cracked and too big anyway (in my fat-boy opinion).

There is some rust in the lower areas under the paint starting. but it is not visible yet. The roof has some tears at the corners. but it doesn't leak. In all this car is a '20 footer'.
