1969 Porsche 912 Coupe

Porsche was well into development of the new 911 platform with an introduction of a six cylinder power plant. while reserving a special place at the same time to keep the former 356 engine available for select buyers. After years of parts design and availability of this four cylinder variant. Porsche knew it would be foolish to simply abandon the engine that buyers had come to love for its ample power and reliability. This engine would be transplanted into the newly designed body shape in 1965 as the 912 model. It offered great weight distribution. excellent handling. and strong fuel range. Immensely popular. affordable. fun. and sporty. the Porsche 912 had a place on the showrooms through 1969 before it was discontinued. Approximately 5. 00 units were built each year over that period. but it is hard to know how many continue to survive today. For collectors. they represent a stellar blue chip investment as prices continue to soar year after year!

We are very excited to represent this final year 1969 Porsche 912 Coupe! Fresh from a professional cosmetic and mechanical restoration. this factory color-coded 6808- Burgundy Red over Black Leatherette example is truly striking throughout! The process began with a completely rust free body that was totally stripped for all trim. chrome. and window glass to bare metal. It was repainted superbly with a base coat/clear coat application to smooth. glasslike results by Vorderman Auto Body based in Fort Wayne. IN. All door weather stripping. window seals & felts. and hood seal were replaced. The chrome and stainless were full polished and appear to be left original. The rubber deco moldings are new. The interior carpet matting. woven floor mats. and front seat foams & upholstery are also new. All window glass remains SEKURIT brand. with a Sudglas-Kristall laminated windshield.

Mechanically. the original number's matching 1582cc engine (#4093207) was handed over to Werner's Garage also based in Fort Wayne. Indiana to have the engine removed for a mild overhaul. It was rebuilt with new higher compression JE pistons & cylinders. piston rings. fresh gaskets. hoses. fuel line. oil sending unit & temp sensor. oil lines. all filters. ignition wires. distributer cap. rotor. & points. rebuilt Solex 40PII-4 carburetors. clutch release bearing. new clutch. valve adjustment. valve cover gaskets. Stebro Performance exhaust. and more! With all the engine sound dampening material replaced and the metal engine shrouds themselves all stripped and power-coated in semi-gloss black. the engine presentation is nothing short of show-ready! The original 5-speed transmission was also removed and completely rebuilt by Werner's Garage with new first gear synchro. all new gaskets. and shifter bushings. This was all completed by the end of April 2010.

Underneath. the suspension components were also cleaned and repainted satin black. with new steering bushings. stabilizer bar mounting plates. and all shocks were replaced. The rebuilt Bilstein strut housings at the front received Koni inserts. and new Koni shocks at the rear. The fuel system was cleaned with a newly sealed fuel tank. new sending unit. rebuilt fuel pump. and all hoses & clamps. The original 15” chrome wheels were left original and wrapped in BF Goodrich Touring T/A radials measuring 185/65. The entire braking system was overhauled starting with new master cylinder. calipers that were rebuilt & painted. with new pads & rotors. lines& hoses. You will be hard pressed to find another Porsche 912 with this much attention to detail for the money! From the fresh under hood presentation with all new carpet & matching spare tire through to the rear engine compartment. it is joy to look over! It will also come complete with Porsche Certificate of Authenticity (ordered but not yet received). past service records with odometer readings. original owner's manual. and extra sets of keys.
