Current customer rating: (218 votes ) based onIn June we were headed to a vintage motoring festival in N. C. and 40 miles out of Charleston and right after an oil change. alve timing. nd generator belt change the generator pulley back half split. I nursed it to the next rest area but it had overheated by then and an intake valve got stuck. The tow on a flat bed damaged the front pan after hooking to the tow hook as well. So the motor was removed for a rebuild by Autometrics it was just completed with a 1720cc big bore kit and has a little over 100 miles on it. The car went back to Star Motor and they replaced the front pan. ront suspension pan and tow hook and ziebarted those areas. So there is no known rust except for a 50 cent size area of surface rust on the pan near the driver footwell. The pan and weld points show no signs of any accidents ever. The body is the same no signs of any damage ever. The chrome is all original and in great shape. The engine has more torque now than in it's original form and the Webers were re-jetted for the displacement increase. I have and got when I bought it the original steering wheel. US headlights. 912 oil gauge ( it has a 911 one). front bumper and bumperettes more mics. parts including the original A/C compressor as the car came equipped with it when new. I also have the original maintenance book verifying the car and engine match and the owners book and tags for the radio. The radio still works ! The interior is a time capsule and is in very good shape so it was left alone.
What the car does need : The fuchs could stand to be properly redone by polish and paint. The windshield washer is inoperative and the dash has the two cracks. There is a crack in the left front turn signal lense. There is also a missing half of the plastic cover that goes over the seat belt lock on the drivers side. Of course you could do more to make it a perfect concours car but it needs nothing to be driven RELIABLY and enjoyed now and for years to come. The engine rebuild alone was 11. 00. 00 . The rest of the money I've spent went to the body shop and for parts.
I've told people before you can go and bid and or buy these cars still in the teens and twenties but you will get what I first got. A car that will need a motor rebuilt or have rust and prior damage or a myriad of things you don't know about and won't be told need doing. I've pretty much done all that to this car. Hagerty's September guide now shows a condition 3 car with a 5-spd to be valued at 32. 40. 00. A condition 2 is at 42. 00. 00. This is from what these cars are bringing on the market right now. I have 45. 00 invested and am willing to lose 20 percent and then some more to sell this car. I am however not giving it away. My reserve is set to reflect that. I have a 100 percent record on E-Bay. I've been a Porsche Club of America member since 2006 and was the President of our Palmetto region in 2010. I'd like to see this car go to someone who can appreciate it and enjoy it. To my knowledge I am the 5th owner and the mileage is original. My loss can be your gain. This is a sale though and should you bid and make reserve you are buying a car ! a 1000. 00 deposit will be due within 24 hours via Paypal and the balance due within 7 days. I'll work with any shipper to get the car and the extra parts to them. I used Reliable Transport when I got it and would highly recommend them again. Vehicle is for sale locally so I keep the option to unlist if it sells before reserve is met.
Call or message with any questions or if you need more photos. I have nothing to hide with this sale. My cell is 843-276-2367.
