EQUIPMENT
Electrically retractable vertical doors. Electric windows. PAS. Electric mirrors. Sony CD player. Interior lights. Lockable petrol cap. BMW tool kit. Dash clock. Spare key.

EXTERIOR
One of only four paint finishes available. the stunning Dream Black metallic paintwork on this Z1 is in excellent order boasting a beautiful deep shine all round. Being an entirely plastic body. rust is not an issue on the Z1. Smaller details such as the badges and grilles are in excellent order. retaining their correct finish. The angular. futuristic body styling of the Z1. to the untrained eye can still be mistaken for a brand new BMW such was the design achievement of Dr. Ulrich Bez and his team at BMW Technik GmbH. It is unbelievable to think when looking at this car that it is a 20 year old design that incorporated integrated bumpers with the rear silencers built in to aid aerodynamics.

The doors on this Z1 work perfectly and retract quickly with the window dropping swiftly and the structure of the door disappearing into the sill. The headlights are clear and free from any damage. This is the same for the wing mirrors which are perfectly designed into the body and hung on the A pillar to aid in the distinctive design and aerodynamics of the Z1.

INTERIOR
The retractable doors are clearly a major highlight and once this fascination has passed. it's time to work out exactly the best way to get into the Z1. The first attempt can be a bit tricky. but with a couple of manoeuvres it becomes second nature. Once inside. the driver is firmly held in place by the beautifully sculpted sports seats which. along with the centre console. gear knob and gaiter. have all been recently re-upholstered with premium Rolls Royce leather hide at a cost of £4. 00 by Nick Artusa. a former employee of Maranello Ferrari. As such. the interior in this particular example is in superb condition. the high quality cream leather remains perfectly soft to the touch and is a stunning combination with the Dream Black metallic paintwork. It's an exciting place to be with the Z1 specific steering wheel. motorbike inspired instruments and hanging style mirrors. not to mention the lack of doors. All the essential controls fall exactly to hand as any good sports car should and anything non-essential has been left off the options list.

There is a neat storage compartment behind the passenger seat and plenty of head room even with the roof up. The boot area is spotless and holds the spare wheel and BMW tool kit. The convertible roof is in fine order. it manually stows away with ease and speed. fitting neatly out of sight.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This Z1 benefits from a comprehensive service record. the last service being the all-important Inspection 2 service including cambelt. this was carried out by BMW Vines Of Redhill in 2013 at 70k miles. The car also benefits from a recently replaced. genuine BMW rear silencer at a cost of over £1. 00. The car performs exactly as it should. providing an exhilarating ride with good performance.

Opening the bonnet you are greeted with the familiar sight of the 2. 5 straight 6 fitted to many BMW's of the era. the engine and compartment are very clean and presentable.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The 16" alloy wheels are all in fine order with just a few light marks to be found on close inspection. The wheels are shod in a matching set of quality Dunlop SP Sport tyres.

The brakes are in fine working order having had a brake fluid change and all discs and hubs refurbished.

HISTORY FILE
The BMW Z1 was first registered in Germany 1992. where it spent the first 6 years of its life with the first keeper. The car was then imported to the UK in 1998. where it has since had 4 keepers.

Within the large history file there are many documents detailing the cars ownership over the years. MOT certificates. the original German document pack including all the manuals and service booklet. as well as a copy of the now out of print and very rare. UK handbook.

Since the current keeper has owned the car they have thoroughly cherished it. spending over £7. 00 in the past 2 years. making sure everything is just right and that this particular example wants for nothing. This is a fantastic opportunity to purchase a rare. well-kept. true modern classic.
