Current customer rating: (314 votes ) based onThe provisional 330 America was replaced in January. 1964 by the
new 330GT 2+2. It was first shown at the Brussels Show early that
year. It was much more than a re-engined 250. however. with a
sharper nose and tail. quad headlights and a wide grille. The
wheelbase was 52 inches longer but fitted with Koni adjustable
shock absorbers which improved handling. A dual-circuit
Dunlop braking system was used with discs all around though it
separated brakes front to back rather than diagonally as on modern
systems and when leaving the factory the 330GT originally fitted
Pirelli Cinturato 205VR15 tyres. The 1965. Series II version
featured a five-speed gearbox instead of the overdrive four-speed
of the prior year. Other changes included the switch back to two
headlights instead of the four light front clip. alloy wheels. the
Borrani wire wheels were kept as an option and the addition of
optional air conditioning and power steering. Prior to the
introduction of the 'Series II' 330 GTs. a series of 125 'interim'
cars were produced with the quad-headlight external configuration
of the Series I cars but with the five-speed transmission and
'suspended' foot pedals of the 'Series II' cars.
This rare righthand drive Ferrari 330GT Series II. chassis number
7849GT. was supplied by Maranello Concessionaires and sold on 16th
March 1966 by Mead of Maidenhead to Mr. R. G. Hawkins who lived in
Bristol. It is believed that this 330GT has only covered 43. 00
miles from new which is verified by the collection of old MoT test
certificates. the earliest is from 1968 when the recorded mileage
was 28. 23 miles. The car was re-painted and the interior was
redressed in the mid 1990's and has been maintained throughout its
time on the road. Recent work has included replacing the valve stem
seals. reconditioning the Borrani wire wheels which and having a
new MoT test certificate. Finished in the original colour Azzurro
blue with blue leather and blue carpets. this Ferrari 330GT is
supplied with a V5C registration document. an MoT test certificate
which expires in August 2015 and a file containing the original
bills of sale. Also included are old registration documents. old
MoT test certificates. invoices. photographs. a hand book and the
Ferrari 330GT parts catalogue. This is a good sound car that drives
well but would benefit from some minor tlc to the paintwork and
interior. The 1960's Ferrari's have shown to be one of the best
investments you could have with nearly all of them over doubling in
price in the last twelve months.
