The Mercedes R107 was launched in 1971 and production continued
through to 1989 and is the longest single series ever produced by
the firm besides the G-Class utility vehicle. The R107 replaced the
W113 Pagoda SL in 1972 and was replaced by the R129 SL in 1989. The
R107 had the longest run of any Mercedes chassis. built for 18
years from 1971 to 1989. Some 237. 00 R107 SL's were built and
about two thirds were sold in the US. The car was essentially a two
seater sports car although a small seating arrangement was
available behind the front seats. Mercedes-Benz offered a number of
engine choices over the years. the first cars in 1971 having the
350 engine. a V8 3. 5 litre unit fitted. By 1973 a larger 4. 5 litre
V8 was available. constructed primarily for the US market and in
1974 the 280 engine was introduced. a 2. 8 litre straight six which
was probably more suitable for the European market given the petrol
crisis during that period.
This very well presented 1985 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is described to
be in very good condition throughout. finished in silver with
matching hardtop and blue interior. this car a well documented
history and is supplied with a V5C registration document. a twelve
month long MoT test certificate. the three original keys. the
handbook pack containing handbook and service book and a file with
old MoT test certificates and invoices. A good car to round off the
