These iconic models. valued by collectors. are considered by
many to be the greatest classic 911 of all-time. RS stands for
Rennsport and the Carrera name was re-introduced from the 356
Carrera which had itself been named after Porsche's class victories
in the Carrera Panamericana races in Mexico in the 1950's. The RS
was built so that Porsche could enter racing formulae that demanded
that a certain minimum number of production cars were made.
Compared with a standard 911S. the Carrera 2. 7 RS had a larger
engine developing 210hp. revised and stiffened suspension. a
'ducktail' rear spoiler. larger brakes. wider rear wheels and rear
fenders. The extraordinary success that these. often unpredictable. br/>sportscars achieved both in sales terms but also in competition
underlined the engineering that underpinned these cars. The image
of the white car with coloured script along its flanks has
seamlessly passed into motoring legend and has itself been used as
a marketing tool by Porsche for many of its later lightweight cars.
Performance aside. it is the image and styling that made the
Carrara RS the success story that it is today and it is that image
that is offer now. But more that than. it is coupled with a far
more drivable Porsche underneath with a bigger engine. a more
comfortable ride and a few more creature comforts.

This example is an extremely accurate rendition of the
archetypal 2. 7 RS. Originally a 1984 3. 2 litre Carrera. it has
been beautifully maintained having been serviced by Porsche agents
for its entire 71. 00 miles and supported with an extensive history
of every invoice from new. All MoT test certificates dating back to
1987. complete with the all the drivers handbooks/pouch. both sets
of keys and stamped service book. Having gone through a costly and
detailed ground-up restoration and conversion by RSR Engineering
three years ago. the result and quality is self-evident. even down
to the age related registration number. Finished in Grand Prix
white with Viper Green RS decals. the exterior panels are the
correct steel wings with a lightweight long bonnet. lightweight
front and rear RS bumpers and finished with the RS ducktail. The
bodywork is reported to be in great condition with minimal patina. br/>the anodized exterior trim and window frames are also in perfect
condition.

It has been set up for a authentic RS feel in mind and therefore
has been fitted with correct period brakes and suspension
modifications. correct period built-in roll bar and with the
interior having been fitted with period race/driving seats and door
pull cords to finish that authentic look. Fitted with the
correct 8x15 and 9x15 Fuch lightweight alloy wheels and with
quality and thought given to every aspect. this represents an
extremely fine example.
