This uber cool 1953 Chevy pickup is nothing short of awesome. It is currently used almost everyday to go to the store or a fun ride in Muskoka. Ontario (just north of Toronto).   It is truly solid and runs in better than average condition. It starts perfectly. runs nicely on the highway. the clutch is beautiful and smooth. the metal absolutely solid. steering wonderful - and an original southern patina that is one of a kind.   It has been thoroughly dependable. exceptional handling for its age and stops traffic and people every place it goes; everybody comes over and says "nice truck" or "is it for sale?"  Well. now it is!  The Classic Chevy 1/2 ton 216 inline 6 with three on the tree is original and carefully maintained. Still on 6v I have found no reason to change to 12v to date. The truck operates seamlessly as is.   With new lighting wiring. signals. lights. wipers (vacuum). horn all work. The instrument gauges do not operate. The cloth seats are in above average condition - quite nice actually (likely newer) and the headliner relatively new and crisp. The gas tank has clearly been replaced with a new one recently (but before me). The bed is in exceptional condition and the underside has no signs of rust whatsoever (likely from decades of southern living).   I had the truck oiled to preserve the condition and the team at Krown Rustproofing were amazed at the clean practically new condition of the frame!  The passenger side and drivers side windows have cracks - though I have not bothered to replace; I like them as is.  They role up and down perfectly. The front windows are excellent with the exception of a tiny chip mark on one side which I will hopefully get to Apple Auto Glass and get fixed.   The rat look is perfect for a truly fun vehicle without the "show feel" that can come with a collector car. Yet. it is now the ultimate show vehicle as the patina'd aesthetic is in demand.  Even a trip to get gas has to include some extra time for pictures and conversation.  And then I get to smoothly pull away! Where there is rust on the body. it has been halted years ago and remains impressive and strongly put together. The cab floor is solid - and there is evidence that it has been repaired in the past. There are some holes in the rear of the cab that form part of the over all look of the vehicle. I chose not to patch or repaint any of the truck because I love it exactly as it is. I am sure it would make a great restoration project but I would never do it - the look now is far more appealing. whimsical. grounded and enjoyable to use everyday in my opinion and is not required mechanically certainly.   The rat rod is just a joy.   The tires are good - with plenty of use still remaining while the spare is not functional.   The car is available to be seen in Muskoka. It is owned privately. no warranties. as is and I can help with shipping though locally and in the Toronto area you could drive it away. Currently plated and in use.  I have this car listed elsewhere and it may be removed on sale from eBay.  I have a very reasonable reserve set on this truck - so happy bidding!
