It was the summer of 1989 and my 1983 SC Cabriolet was starting to have issues.  I walked into the showroom of Fred Opert Porsche in New Jersey and there on the floor was the most beautiful 911 wide body cabriolet that I had ever seen.  Guards Red with red can can /black leather interior with every option offered by Porsche.  Full leather. stereo. heated seats. power seats. cruise control. 5 speed. air conditioning. tonneau cover. sport seats. and the list went on.  It was the last year of the true air cooled 911 and my dream car was sitting in front of me.  Within the hour I owned the car.  That first weekend. driving the  2 lane backroads of Connecticut with the top down. was probably one of the most memorable days of my life.
Over the next few years I modified the car a bit.  First was the removal of the front and rear "accordian" bumpers which were replaced with Porsche wide body versions.  No drilling and no modifications were made to the car during the process.  They fit the car like a glove.  I still have all the original pieces wrapped up and protected in the event the buyer wished to return the car to its original look. My next modification was to chip the car and change the air filter.  I do have the original parts. The next change was to remove the cat. add a straight pipe and take off the original muffler and add a stainless steel muffler.  The sound and performance of the 911 is outstanding.  Nothing like the traditional cat/muffler version. I have the cat and the original muffler.
The 911 had been modified by DP in Germany prior Fred Opert Porsche taking delivery.  They customized the interior as you can see in the photos and added the skirts under the doors.  They originally had DP decals on them which I took off.  Too gaudy.  The rear deck had the "turbo" script but this is not a turbo.  Script was there at purchase so I left it alone.  The tires are fairly new with less than 1000 miles on them.  Took the originals off due to age. Their age. not my age.
The car has never been in an accident. had any paintwork done to it or been modified. other than what I have mentioned above. I never planned on selling the 911 and was planning on taking it to the next Porsche Parade and entering it into the original owners category with no repaint.  I believe I would stand a good chance of winning.
The only issue is the lip of the drivers fender.  Three years ago I had the car parked (way in back) of a restaurant on Cape Cod.  When my wife and I came out there was a SUV jammed next to me.  You know the type.  It was dark in the lot and I did my best to check the car for any dings that the SUV might have caused.  Didn't see any.  However. the next morning I noticed where the SUV door had been opened and hit the edge of the fender. cracking the paint (about 1" crack).  Paint did not fall off so I left it alone.  A new owner can determine if they need to repair it or leave it alone.  See the photo of the crack.
After 25 years of ownership. and now with a recent major back operation. I no longer can enter/exit the 911 without great difficulty.  so with a clear and original title in hand. I have decided to sell.  My price reflects the original ownership. very low miles. perfect condition. wide body. cabriolet. DP modifications. my modifications and all the options on the car.  Plus. it is the last year of the true air cooled Porsche.  I welcome any questions.  The car is in a heated/airconditioned. ocked and alarmed garage.  Good luck bidding. The Original Owner
