The first series Porsche 911 featured an all new 2. 0 liter 6 cylinder engine that was a departure from earlier Porsche models. The 911 became a strong candidate for competition events worldwide.   Sebring being a  part of the 'Big Four' (Challenge Mondial De Vitesse Et D' Endurance). nbsp;was the first leg of the World's Series Challenge. The other 3 of the big four were Targa- Florio ( Italy) . Nurburgring 1. 00 Kms ( Germany). and Le Mans 24 Hour race ( France). This Porsche 911 #303474 was entered in the 1967 Sebring 4 hour Trans-American championship race under #29.

Listed to race in the Sebring 12 Hour Gran Prix of Endurance was   Porsche 906 -127 assigned race number 41. that car did not arrive. hence the 1965 Porsche 911 2 liter competed in its place for the 12 Hours of Sebring wearing  #41. The Porsche 911 # 41 qualified 35th on the grid and went on to  finish the race at 20th place overall at the hands of German co-drivers Sepp Greger and Gunter Besier.

Restoration began on this all original Porsche over 4 years ago and was completed last year prior to being road registered and tested on Georgia countryside roadways. The result of the restoration is stunning and the car looks like new. The engine is the original matching number engine with its very rare original 3 barrel Solex carbs. The car features all of its original sheet metal as well as its original floors. Most of the early P cars have rotted away and no longer can make such claims. The Early Porsche 911 also featured 2 front bumper weights that came from the factory to keep the front end down and this vehicle still has the Factory weights in the front bumpers. Included is the original factory owners manual. the becker radio owners paperwork. and original Porsche-Air as installed in the late 60's by Art Bunker Porsche. also the original 1965 date coded race seatbelts as used to run the 12 Hours of Sebring.

Race history is always good for the Provenance of any vintage/classic car but 'Period History' allows the cars to participate in the biggest and best events worldwide. This Porsche qualifies for that distinctive honor. This Porsche 911 is a piece of Automotive history that can not be reproduced or duplictated.  The era from which this car was born has now become a part of our past history.
