Current customer rating: (532 votes ) based onThis 1967 Austin Mini Moke (# 67AABIL834789) was purchased by the seller in 2007 as a dissembled project from California . and underwent a full restoration by JDs British Cars in Nashville . N. The seller says that the build cost $44k and took until 2011. and since then the car has only 789 miles on it. Peppy upgrades include a 1275cc Austin America engine . oil cooler. alloy wheels. front disc brakes. heater. Triumph front seats and a rugged black floor pan paint.
14. 00 Mokes were produced in the UK between 1964 and 1968. It was offered as a easily maintained utility vehicle that was popular in island and costal locations. Later versions were produced in Australia and Portugal. The design was a prototype for a light military vehicle in the style of the American Jeep that used an identical engine. transmission and suspension parts to the basic Mini. The body mainly consists of two box-section “sideboxes'”running from the back of the car all the way up to the firewall. These are connected by the floor pan. the firewall and a sturdy torque box that runs under the front seats and stiffens the body in torsion. The left-hand sidebox contains the fuel tank; the right-hand has a compartment for the battery and a small storage area. As with the standard Mini . there is no chassis. The Moke wheels. brake assemblies and suspension are attached to front and rear subframes which are bolted straight onto the monocoque shell.
