This beautiful 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible is begging to driven and enjoyed by its future owner. maybe you???  We found this gem in Florida where it had spent the last 10 years or so. It was owned by a gentleman from Michigan who also had a home in Florida where they spent a good part of the year.  This was a California production car that evidently spent a good part of its life in Colorado before going to Florida.  When the previous owner bought it the car was in great condition but was due for a cosmetic restoration which he did about 10 years ago. This was his pride and joy and he only drove the car on sunny days and mostly just took it to the local car shows and cruise-ins.   Unfortunately he passed away about a year ago and his wife decided it was time to let his prized possession go to a new home.  I think you will see from the pictures that follow that this is an extremely nice Classic Pony Convertible!!! It is believed to have 97. 500 original miles on it and the 289 V8 drives fantastic!  I will do my best to provide enough large images. a video of it starting up and running. and an honest description to help you decide if this Pony should be in your garage.  Sit back and enjoy!
As I mentioned this beautiful convertible received a cosmetic restoration about 10 years ago. The body panels appear to be original and the body is extremely straight with excellent body gaps everywhere. Doors open and shut with ease.  The original color was Wimbledon White but the owner decided he wanted to change that and went with a beautiful Burgundy metallic. I am not sure of the exact color but it looks fantastic and this was a professional paint job in a base coat/clear coat that looks like it could have just been done last month. although it is actually closer to 10 years old. There are not any bubbles or signs of rust anywhere along the body.  Since the car was driven after the restoration there may be a minor rock chip or two but overall the body is really in near flawless condition.  The Chrome. bumpers. trim and emblems all look fantastic. There are a few minor dings in the lower chrome molding.   Weatherstripping was replaced at time of restoration and looks great. All of the windows roll up and down nicely and glass is in excellent condition.  Overall this '66 Stang is ready to go to the local shows where I am sure it will bring home its share of trophies if that is what you enjoy.  Here is a photo tour of the body:

I believe this Classic Mustang Convertibles should be driven with the top down as often as possible but it is always nice to know that this '66 also has a beautiful White Power top that works great and looks fantastic. There is one minor flaw on the welting strip that goes across the back of the top that is strictly cosmetic. This top operates smoothly and seals up great.  It is a heavier grade vinyl then I see on most so it was probably an upgrade at the time of restoration. Rear window is nice and clear.  A matching red boot cover is included for when you put the top down.  Here are some pics of the top.

This '66 is an original Deluxe Pony interior car and the Red interior is an awesome compliment to the dark red metallic exterior. The seats are in beautiful condition and I believe the front seats were recovered at time of restoration and possibly had new foams installed as they are very comfortable.  Door panels and carpeting are in great condition. Dark red dash pad in great shape. The dash looks great with the wood grain on the dash bezel and glove box. Deluxe woodgrain steering wheel is in great shape with just one small spot in the wood that appears to have been repaired at one time. Courtesy lights all work.  Front and rear seat belts. A brand new set of matching floor mats are included. All of the gauges appear to be working correctly.  Nice chrome rocker trim panels.  The interior looks just as it did back in '66. gorgeous!! Have a look:

This '66 Convertible is believed to have just 97. 00 original miles on it and judging from the way it runs and drives I definitely believe it.  The C-Code 289 fires right up and cruises out great. I do not have any record of a rebuild but I can tell you that I have driven my share of classic Mustangs and this one drives extremely well at all speeds. The carburetor had recently been rebuilt and is dialed in nicely.  Handling is smooth and simple thanks to the Power steering. Suspension feels great and I believe most suspension components were updated at the time of restoration.  Manual drum brakes that stop great and straight with no issues. We have driven this Mustang on a few hot Atlanta afternoons with no overheating issues.   Basically this Mustang is very stock under the hood with original manifolds. They did add chrome valve covers and air cleaner to dress it up just a bit and the engine bay has been detailed nicely for the shows. Exhaust was converted to a dual exhaust that sounds great and exits out the chrome dual tips  under the rear valance.  Floorpans and torque boxes are rock solid with no rust issues. Inside of the trunk is also rust free and very solid with the correct mat and a spare tire. Great set of styled steel wheels with Goodyear White wall Radial tires that have plenty of tread life left. Original Vin # is stamped in the inner drivers side fender and the original door trim tag is still in place. Make sure you listen to the video of this Pony starting up and running that follows these pics.
