Many collectors have found over the years that they just love the looks of the pre-war and post-war cars and especially the Ford but were often disappointed in the way the cars were somewhat underpowered for today's modern road use.   Lo and behold about fifteen years ago the term ‘retro rod' came into being along with the idea of leaving a car from 1935 to 1941 or 1941 to 1958 in a very stock looking condition but changing the underpinnings of the mechanicals to something more modern so that the car could be driven at toll way speeds and in great comfort.

If you have been watching Barrett-Jackson lately you have probably seen that the people who put their money where their mouth is have been spending more money on a particular retro rod then they are on the same car in its all-original condition.   As the hobby of car collecting matures so do some of the tastes for some of the collectors.   In this case the retro rod now has become firmly established as a breed of car that you can have your cake and eat it too.   By that we mean that you can enjoy the original look (or something pretty close to it) and have a modern high-powered engine with an automatic transmission (no manual transmission here). with such luxuries as tilt column and power steering.

So the car that you see before you is a rare car just to begin with being that it is a 1941 Ford Business Coupe.   Ford Business Coupe were always rare but of course by 1941 the world was just about to enter WWII and car production had been slowing down for years.   The car in this ad is an all-metal car and a most beautiful Candy Apple Red paint job and 4. 84 miles since it was built.   To top that off it comes with a 383 Stroker engine that has been dynoed at 440 hp. a lot of the help for the extra horsepower comes from the 792 Holley carburetor that is hooked up to a 350 Turbo-Hydramatic transmission and a 410 rear end.   For your cruising enjoyment the car has AM/FM/CD and for your ultimate comfort in traveling across country you have both power steering and a tilt column.   The dashboard is nicely detailed and has gauges.

For the challenges at the stoplight the torsion bars on the rear keep the tires on the ground while the 440-horse power leave your embarrassed challengers at the stoplight in your dust and staring at your taillights.

Because there are plenty of 1955. 1956 & 1957 Chevy's and Fords. there are plenty of retro rods of that variety but because 1941 Ford Business Coupe is a rare bird to begin with you will find very few retro rods with this body style.

The car has a stance that means business and a beautiful custom interior.   Check out the way the tach is mounted onto the dashboard so that you can select your next gear change with the automatic transmission lever mounted on the floor.   The trunk is tidy and carries it's fire extinguisher in the trunk.   The car is highly sorted out with 4. 84 miles since its upgraded modifications and restoration.

The owner of this car tells us that this car will run at turnpike speeds and a whole lot more if you want to run the risk of getting a ticket.   He thinks nothing of cruising in it all day long at highway speeds.   The longest trip that he has taken in any one direction is 300 miles and he tells us that there was not one problem.

We also realize that cars of this vintage and with these specifications are not only popular through out the United States but also extremely popular in Australia. New Zealand. Sweden and Canada and we are happy to work with any foreign buyers as long as they call us first to get clearance to bid.

A Cajun Story by the seller

This 1941 Ford Coupe was restored in 2008 by a gentleman from Pasadena. Texas.   Unfortunately he had cancer and he passed away in less than 6 months after he completed the restoration and his widow held it until it was purchased in 2010 by my neighbor and close friend. We enjoyed this car and we both took it to car shows and rallies taking place from Mississippi to Texas.   It has been used by a couple local Ford Dealer to attract attention (very successfully) when they were running specials.   These dealers like the fact that this car is All Metal and is truly representative of the solid old Fords made in their day.

Our Main event of the year was attending an event on the Mississippi Gulf coast and we drove about 150 miles a day.   The longest one-way trip has been 375 miles at 50 to 70 MPH.    We always receive large amounts of admiration from the crowd and the judges.   We seldom showed the car as we just loved to enjoy it along with our friends.   As you can imagine this car is extremely fast out of the blocks and although we never raced it we did “depress” a few youngsters now and then with their GTO's and Mustangs from signal light to signal light as they would pull up along the side of us revving up their engines in challenge.   We never lost a sprint!  One young man pulled up to us at the next red light and said “Pop – you got you a Red Rocket there. ”

I purchase this car in October of 2012.   This car is most enjoyable to own especially if you like the sound and feeling of power under the hood of a very well kept and beautiful car. this is one to consider. This car sleeps inside our garage under the covers every night we were not driving it.

The reason I am selling is because I am moving to marine fun (boat) for now.   Since I am living along the coast of Louisiana and the fishing is great I have purchased a Twin Vee Catamaran as my wife and I love to fish and be out on the water.   Now that I'm retired I have the time to be the “old mariner”.

When you go to the Saturday night drive in and everybody is driving a 1950s restored car or even a 1950s retro rod you will be a stand out in this 1941 Ford Business Coupe retro rod with plenty of ‘get up and go' with the 440 horse power and will gain the respect of all the ‘stoplight dragsters'.

You can bid with confidence.
