This is my 1972 Mk1 Ford Capri 1600GT XLR pre-facelift. one of the last registered before the facelift models came out. It has done 41. 00 miles on its original engine (all numbers present and correct) She was converted to unleaded in 2006. the only modifications to the car is a custom stainless steel exhaust (similar to standard system. not loud) and an alternator conversion. The rest of the running gear is original and unmodified. correct suspension. brakes. gearbox and rear axle etc. She was partially restored a few years ago. it had a drivers front wing and and was painted all over. It was originally sunset red with a matte black grille. bonnet. scuttle panel. sills and rear panel which is the correct scheme for a GT XLR (the previous owner preferred it to be all red when he painted the car). paint is very nice. just a couple of little marks from use. Near side front wing is bubbling at the bottom below the trim line and could do with some attention in the next year. if I were keeping the car I would repair this and then have both sills. rear panel and the grille painted matte black to put it back to the correct GT XLR paint scheme so no need to worry about matching the paint to the rest of the wing as thit section should be matte black. The only welding I can find on the car is a patch on the near side front chassis rail. Car is waxoyled all over and is very very sound underneath. Brightwork is all present and correct. polishes up very well but the front and rear bumper are dulling slightly (I have a brand new original front bumper which is still in the original Ford packaging with Ford stickers which will go with car). Engine bay is nice and tidy very original. Currently on brand new Compomotive ML 13x5. 5" alloys and I have the original steel wheels which are the same size. It is tax free and has 12 months MOT. went through its test at the start of May with no problems at all. all I did was adjust a wheel bearing the night before the test and she flew through. Interior is standard. black vinyl seats (contoured rear seats with pull down arm rest) very good condition. as far as I can tell it is all original. never been recovered. no speaker holes etc. Not sure if the radio is original but it is from the correct period. Overall the car is very good. couple of little bits that will need attention in the next year or two but these are quite minor. It is 42 years old in August and is not concourse but is very good. Genuine car and a rare model. Only reason for selling is that I am looking for a nice Mk1/Mk2 Escort and unfortunately I do not have room for two classics so the Capri will have to go. This is the second time I have owned this car. it was my first car and I even learnt to drive in it! I bought it back a few years ago and have loved every minute of it. it really does carry a great deal of sentimental value with me but I have always wanted an early Escort. Genuine buyers and it must go to a good home. Any questions just message me or ring on 07854168366. I am quite busy as I work shifts and I also have a couple of weddings to attend this weekend. if I do not answer just leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. I would expect genuine buyers to want to view the car first which is something you should always do anyway. I am busy but will do my best to make time for any viewings before the auction ends. Car is advertised elsewhere so may be removed if sold. Bank transfer or cash on collection. Communication and £200 deposit to be paid within 24hours of the auction ending or it will be straight back on ebay. Only bidders with more than 10 feedback unless we talk first. Good luck with the bidding Tom
