The Mondial was introduced as the Mondial 8 at the 1980 Geneva
Auto Salon. It was the first Ferrari to depart from the company's
familiar 3-digit naming scheme and was fairly mild. relative to
other Ferraris. in terms of performance. drawing criticism from the
motoring press. The Mondial 8 was styled by Pininfarina and sat on
a wheelbase that was four inches longer than its predecessor. It
used a mid/rear-mounted Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection V8. shared
with the 308GTBi/GTSi. mounted transversely. The engine was
originally used in the 1973 Dino 308GT4. The K-Jetronic system is
mechanical. with a high-pressure pump which streams fuel
continuously to the injectors; it does not have a computer. just a
few relays to handle the cold start sequence etc. The chassis was
also based on the 308GT4. but with a 100-millimetre-longer
wheelbase at 2. 50mm. The suspension was the classic layout of
unequal-length double wishbones and Koni dampers all around. The
Mondial 8 is considered one of the marque's most 'practical'
vehicles. due to its 214hp. proven drivetrain. four seats. and
relatively low cost of maintenance (major services can be performed
without removing the entire engine/transmission subframe). 703
examples of the Ferrari Mondial 8 were made.

This righthand drive Ferrari Mondial 8 was supplied by HR Owen in
August 1981 and has a continuous history showing that this Mondial
was used and regularly serviced up to 2002. when it had completed
60. 15 miles. after that the car was stored and used very sparingly
having only been taken out for MoT tests. The last service was
carried out in 2012 at 61. 54 miles. less than 150 miles ago. This
very good. rust free. Ferrari Mondial 8 is finished in Rosso Corsa. br/>with black leather seats and black carpets. The car runs and drives
superbly. and it is supplied with a V5C registration document and
an MoT test certificate which expires in November 2014. There
is also a file containing invoices. old MoT test certificates and
copies of the previous log books. Included with the car is the
original hand book pack containing all the hand books and service
book. This is a very good example and the perfect entry level to
the prancing horse marque.
