Classic Mini 1990 Fully Restored

Hello and welcome to my auction for my classic mini. The car was purchased some 7 years ago and was the subject of an extensive rebuild over three years plus. I`ve listed out all the work that I can remember being done either by my dad or a local mini specialist. Baggy33minis.

Body. The shell is a mini city from 1990 and had an ERA copy bodykit fitted to it before we purchased the car. This was removed along with the old detachable front end. Some body repairs were necessary. rear valance and behind the front top shock mounts. New front wings and front panel were also replaced and the body kit refitted. A fibreglass single skin boot lid replaced the original and a vented fibreglass bonnet finished things of. It was then taken to a local paint shop and resprayed in a low bake oven . It looked stunning when finished!

Suspension. The rear subframe was powder coated black and the front one repainted black and the brace bars were powder coated. The inside of the front wings etc were sprayed silver. Front hubs were rebuilt and ball joints replaced. Hi los are fitted all round along with Gaz shocks. Rear radius arms were checked cleaned and regreased.

Brakes. Front callipers were stripped cleaned sprayed silver with calliper paint and have stainlees steel pistons fitted. Rear back plates were cleaned up and painted black. new brake cylinders fitted and new shoes etc. Blue braided brake flexibles are fitted along with new copper brake pipes and fittings.

Wheels are 7 x 13 minilites and could do with a refurb if youre being picky. Bridgestone tyres all round.

Engine and box.   The g/box was the first thing to be rebuilt by Surf Blue garage and has centre oil pick up fitted. The engine was rebuild some three years ago and received the following treatment by WS Bates of Nottm. The block was sleeved back to 1275 from 1380 and has hepolite pistons fitted. the crank proved to be ok. Head was rebuild to stage 3 spec and when rollin road tuned by Geoff Bloor garages gave a healthy 86 bhp with an excellent performance throughout the rev range. Exhaust is a boxster type. The car is a little loud but a great improvement on the original system it came with which was defending!

Interior. 3 clock carbon fibre type dash with Alpine head unit fitted to a homemade centre console. Speakers in the rear parcel shelf with 6x9 under the rear seats. Door cards are Newton commercial in grey with black aftermarket carpets. The seats are from Ashley James and give excellent support as well as looking great.

Now for the bad points. The bodywork where the kit is concerned is cracked in a few places and one of the front arches is quite badly cracked where my dad accidently knocked it against the garage door when the front end was removed. There are some blisters around the rear windscreen. side repeaters and some appearing on the scuttle. However. these are minor things as the car still draws admiring looks wherever it goes.

To sum up then. the car has received loads of work and money over the years but now its time to part with it and let someone else enjoy it and carry out some of the little things that minis always seem to need doing. I will be sorry to see it go as it drives brill and always leaves me or my dad with a big grin.
