This sleek Jaguar is finished in the very rare and special order colour of Pale Primrose Yellow and looks absolutely gorgeous. The fine lines of the pillarless coupe are striking and the richness of colour make this thoroughbred impossible to miss with admiring looks on every outing. The wrap-round chromium plated bumpers and imposing front grille shine brightly and all the glass is mark free. The rear overriders have small dings. The black grained vinyl roof is immaculate and contrasts wonderfully against the glossy paint. The engine bay. wheel arches and under body are clean with no corrosion which normally affects this model only a tiny lift on the rear passenger sill. A ‘Byatts of Fenton' rear window sticker is still in the rear screen when it was sold by them in 1979. An individual. imposing and sophisticated example of Jaguar magic.
A sumptuous. luxurious and spotlessly clean Connolly Black leather interior is complemented by hand matched walnut facia and is simply exquisite. All occupants can relax in the wide contoured seats and the deep pile carpets laid over special sound absorbing materials offer a spacious. quiet and renewed pleasure in driving. The previous long-term keeper fitted an isolator switch for the working quartz clock and has removed the interior festoon bulbs to prevent the battery going flat. The Blaupunkt radio/cassette as fitted when new along with all other controls work perfectly. A real automotive indulgence.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The superlative in-line six cylinder well proven XK 4. 2 litre engine produces 245bhp and offers effortless reserves of performance. A full and expensive stainless exhaust system has been fitted giving wonderful exhaust note on full throttle. Other discreet and accepted mechanical improvements include a Pacet electric cooling fan. a Lumenition ignition system and a manual choke conversion. The Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic model 65 transmission is beautifully matched to the XK engine giving the perfect driving combination.
WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES
The Dunlop silver painted 15inch steel wheels have chrome Jaguar hub-caps with growler badges and are standard fitments finishing the striking exterior impact of the vehicle. Steel belted Federal tyres have ample tread and are correctly sized at 205/70 R15. Servo-assisted disc brakes all-round with ventilated discs at the front and separate hydraulic circuits offer incredible stopping power. Umbrella handbrake system holds the car.
Incredible! Two A4 files of paperwork have been neatly filed in date order revealing a detailed and cared for car with masses of history. All four former keepers are recorded with the last long-term custodian of 16 years sparing no expense on upkeep from a complete engine overhaul and conversion to unleaded fuel to an expensive full stainless steel exhaust system with lifetime guarantee. Although owning the vehicle for 16 years he has known the car since 1979 when it was just two years old and has beautifully noted this in the history file detailing the cars life story over this 34 year span.
