"Phoenix has risen from the Ashes" Excellent low cost project for the VW "gearhead" Folks- what we have here is a rather rare replica of an early Alfa Romeo racing speedster. Most of the replics that appear on on e-bay are Bugatti kits. istinguished by a wider nose section. I purchased the Alfa[sight unseen ] from a fellow e-bayer. It was told to me the car had only two faults-it was missing the rubber for the gas pedal-actually there wasn't a gas pedal. 2- the choke sticks- Uh how could you tell if the car didn't run? The car was towed from the transporter to my brother-in-laws ultimate dream hobby shop. Other projects came up. and the car sat "comotose" for three years. Then. very recently my brother-in-law was struck by a "bolt of motivation" and work began on the Alfa. 1- a new steering gearbox was installed . 2- Carb was removed. leaned and a kit was installed. 3- new fuel pump was installed. 4-new plugs and wires were installed. 5-New emphi exhaust was installed. 6 new accelerator pedal installed. 7-New windscreen installed. 8- New simulated wire wheel trim installed. Car has excellent tires. "The Bad and not so Bad" The clutch is bad-Alfa starts and moves. ut the bad clutch would prohibit any road driveing. 2- the Alfa needs to be rewired for the lights to work 4- Interior vinyl seats very good. arpet not good. ut would take very little material to replace it. Floor pans pretty decent. ut fabricated too short by firewall. Miscellaneous- Brakes seem to stop well. ignal stalk missing. but still useable. Body very good. ome patina on hood. Could use new hood straps.
