                FORD ZEPHYR SIX (MARK 1).

I MAY BE INTERESTED IN A CHEAPER 'YANK' IN P/X (BUT PLEASE SEE BELOW)!

This is a solid car which had a LOT of work professionally done in 2010. The underside is solid. the bodywork had any rot cut out & new panels/part-panels fitted before being re-sprayed in satin black & a new headlining & carpet set fitted.

It is now tax & MoT free. (the last MoT only ran out on 23/04/13).

The leather seats are in good condition (see photo without 'leopard print' covers!).

Since I bought the car. nbsp;I have finished styling it as a Rock'n'Roll/Rockabilly Hotrod which may not be everyones 'cup of tea' but it certainly gets noticed! Any original parts which have been changed or removed will go with the car. There is also a Haynes Manual & a spare set of 6 brand new spark plugs!

It is fitted with stainless steel 'Moondisc' wheeltrims. a genuine 'Cherry Bomb' silencer (sounds gorgeous!). Leopard-print seatcovers & a Maltese Cross door mirror.

For ease of use in modern traffic I have converted it to Negative Earth to enable the fitment of a 12V dash socket. a modern 4-speaker CD/Radio. electric screen-washers & fitted a complete. brand-new kit for self-parking. 2-speed wipers (don't laugh. they didn't come with ANY washers & the wipers were vacuum-controlled & feeble!)

It also has a new thermostat-controlled 12" electric cooling fan with relay. a modern high-performance coil & an additional fuse-box. Plugs. points. condenser. leads. fan-belt & hoses have also been replaced.

Other than where items such as the fuse box & relay have been fitted & needed holes drilled. the structure of the car has NOT been cut or hacked about. The rear speakers have been set into the rear parcel-shelf but fitted through the original holes in the metal. ONLY the 'hardboard' trim was cut & that was slightly warped anyway & could be easily replaced.

The bodywork is sound with only a few small 'bubbles' forming on the trailing edge of the front off-side wing. so the car could mainly simply be 'flatted' & re-sprayed in the original green. the new parts removed & originals re-fitted & with a little work it could be put in standard condition (if that's what you are into!). or it could be enjoyed in Hotrod trim as it is now (not an option for people who don't want to be noticed or end up having a conversation every time they park the car)!.

There is a wad of receipts for parts fitted & work carried out. also MoT's going back to 1995 which SEEM to prove the stated mileage is actually genuine!

I'm happy for the car to be viewed before making an offer.

Now for the boring bit:

Cash only (unless YOU want to pay the PayPal fees coz I'M not!). /strong>

NO overseas bidders/scam merchants (you can't pay with a stolen bank draft. camels or other foreign currency!). /strong>

I DON'T want a swap for any modern car/bike. /strong>

If you want to view it & have a test drive. I WILL BE DRIVING.

Oh. reasons for sale: Just a BIT too old-fashioned for me. I owned a 1966 Vauxhall Victor for 4 years recently & it was my ONLY car for 2&1/2 years of that time & I thought this would be similar. It sounds gorgeous & gets lots of attention but if I was going to use this regularly. I would want to fit a more modern steering rack as (to be honest). I find it too heavy at low speed (must be getting old or soft!). I don't want to be responsible for doing that though. as it would change the whole car irreversably (as far as I know) & I respect it having survived 60 years too much to want to do that.

As a result. I've never used the car on long trips. (40miles max) so I CAN'T say if it will "get you home to somewhere like the Scottish Highlands without missing a beat" but I CAN say that it has never let me down. as always started & ISN'T a rust-riddled wreck with half an oil-field under it on the garage floor!

Any questions. please ask. I don't bite! (Our DOG does but only time-wasters. tyre-kickers & hagglers)!

As far as a P/X goes. I'm ONLY interested in a 70's/80's Yank. something like a Ford Crown Vic. Chevy Caprice or Lincoln Town Car. ither saloon or estate but nothing modern. front-wheel drive or convertable. It would have to be cheaper than the Zephyr so if you have anything of that type. please let me know!

The wife is getting fed up with me moaning that we have to use one of our 'modern. boring daily-drivers' to go to Rock'n'Roll Weekenders so sadly. she has to go (the car. that is)!

THANKS FOR LOOKING.
