Current customer rating: (256 votes ) based onTHE REAL THING.
A nice running. good looking. never-bent. properly functioning. all seams fitting. all functions operating. ll parts present. 100% correct and complete 1964 Imperial Crown Convertible.
One of 922 Made.
This is a very nice. stock car that has been “refreshed” with one same-color paint job. new leather in the front seats and all mechanical attention required to make it a comfortable. safe and reliable driver. Front Chrome is gorgeous. rear is ok (but RE-CHROMED BUMPER comes with the car).
THIS CAR HAS NO RUST ON IT NOW. NOR DID IT EVER. NOW in San Diego. it was originally from SPOKANE. WA (DESERT ENVIRONMENT).
This car runs beautifully and is a joy to drive. It is quiet and smooth and does not smoke-FROM ANYWHERE.
The car still has its correct “bubble” windshield (Imperial fans will know what I'm talking about); still has correct skirts on the back of the front seats; still has correct. original top well liner with drains; still has the highly sought after ORIGINAL PARADE BOOTS and center piece; ORIGINAL (but worn) carpet; Original and Near Perfect Door Panels and all interior panels; Original dash top with only two SMALL cracks (again. Imperial folks will recognize this as rare); still has its original Jiffy-Jet; Still has its original Carburetor and Air Cleaner; Still has its correct Fan Clutch and Fan Shroud; Original Jack and spare and they are stowed correctly with spring and wood chock. Even the original convertible top header locating pins are there (and they are often missing on these cars).
Over the past 2 years I have done the following work:
1. Rebuilt original carburetor
2. Replaced all 4 tires
3. Replaced the convertible Top and Rear Window
4. Replaced the Master Cylinder
5. Re-Cored the original Radiator with 4 core
6. Plugs. Points. Condenser. Wires. Cap. Rotor.
7. Replaced Front Brake Shoes
8. Replaced All RUBBER brake Lines
9. Replaced Water Pump
10. Replaced all Belts and Hoses
11. Replaced Heater Valve (Ranco H-16)
12. Rebuilt HVAC Vacuum/Electric switch
13. New Battery
14. Replaced Starter with Rebuilt
15. Replaced Windlace
16. Replaced Convertible Top PISTONS with NEW ones
The car has functioning factory Air Conditioning that has NOT been charged but all switch positions result in proper opening/closing of heat and AC doors and correct actuation of AC Compressor. I noticed that the Receiver/Dryer/ Strainer HAS been replaced with a newer unit so I will assume that at some time in the recent past the AC was working.
The Heater is Excellent and neither the heater core nor the heater valve leaks.
All 4 Power Windows work. but some are slow.
BOTH 4 Way Power Seats work in all directions
Passenger Side Recliner works
All Interior and Exterior lights work (including Ash tray and Glove Compartment)
The rare and original first year AM/FM factory radio plays beautifully on AM and on FM.
The ORIGINAL Power Antenna goes all the way up and all the way down-from the switch. as it should.
The original and first year Tilt Wheel works as it should.
ALL Hood Snubbers and Door Snubbers and Trunk Snubbers and Gas Tank Door snubbers present.
DOOR HINGES WITH SPRINGS FUNCTION CORRECTLY.
Original OWNER'S MANUAL. WARRANTY BOOK (with THIS CAR'S VIN NUMBER STAMPED ON IT). plus the Original booklet that Chrysler provided to all owners who ordered AM/FM radios-they're all here.
The car does have a couple of drips – AS THEY ALL DID EVEN WHEN THEY WERE ONLY A COUPLE OF YEARS OLD. (I KNOW. MY FATHER HAD THEM THEN).
This is NOT a perfect car or a SHOW car. but an EXTREMELY NICE car that looks beautiful-even close up (and is) original in appearance and equipment and will take you wherever you point it.
Even better. span > you won't see yourself coming and going because this is truly one of the rarest cars of the 60's. NINE HUNDRED TWENTY TWO EVER MADE.
The car is REGISTERED. TITLED and INSURED IN MY NAME. I OWN IT.
