We are pleased to present this very original. very nice 1968 big block Corvette Convertible. We have bought and sold a lot of classic cars and this one is by far the most original we have had. I want to start by going through the date codes and numbers.


The chassis Body tag is J27 (May 27. 1968)

The engine Casting code is 3935439 (427. 390HP). date code is E 10 8 (May 10th. 1968) The block is stamped on the pad(original. NOT A RESTAMP): T0521IL (Engine was assembled in the Tonawanda plant on May 21st. 1968) 18S420647

Driver side Head 3917215 (427. 390HP). Casting Date E 14 8 (May 14th. 1968)

Transmission 3925660 (427. 390HP). Casting Date P 8 E 13 (Muncie 4SPD. May 13th. 1968) The transmission is stamped with the VIN as well. original stamping

Bell Housing 3899621 (11" Big Block)

The rear differential is stamped 2AU 5 15 68 (May 15th. 1968. AU stands for Heavy Duty Posi 3. 36:1)

Alternator 1100693 (427. 390HP) The last six digits of my VIN are 420647. and the sequence for Corvettes built in May of 68 start at 417676 and end with 420928. so it was one of the last to roll off the assembly line in May of 1968.

We do have the original tank sticker but it is in rough shape. You can still see that the order was recieved on 4-27-1968 and the option number for the engine is 02L36AA. which is the 427 390HP engine option. You can also see some of the other option numbers for the vehicle.

She has had one respray in the original Lemans blue color. and it shows very nicely. the seats have been recovered and are very nice with no rips or tears. all gauges work including speedo. tach. oil press. coolant. amps. and fuel. except for the clock. All the chrome shows very nicely with minor wear but no pitting or major imperfections. The wheels show very nice with good tread left on the tires. The vacuum aided headlight system has just been overhauled and works very well.

Mechanically the car has been very well maintained. The engine was rebuilt in 2004 (have reciept) and pulls very strong. this car is fast and has lots of torque! The Muncie shifts extremly well with no issues upshifting or downshifting in any situation.

The car was taken into a chevrolet dealer in 2008 with braking issues. All the calipers were replaced and she stops with ease! The Carb was replaced with a Rochester Quadrajet. #7028212. and the turn signal switch was replaced. I have receipts for thousands of dollars in parts and labor over the years.

This car makes an excellent driver as it sits and is sure to increase in value due to its overwhelming originality. Cars like these are very hard to come by. As it sits this car could drive anywhere. but there are a few items that could be addressed to make it 100%:

1) The wiper system is all there. but not currently working. not sure why.
2) The heater core is disconnected. I assume because it is leaking. and the blower motor is also not currently working.
3) The paint is very nice driver quality. but does have some cosmetic flaws. minor chips that have been touched up. and very few tiny stress cracks showing. It looks amazing from 5-10 feet.

4)Original radio not currently working.

Anyone would be proud to have this classic in thier garage! Car is sold as is. and as always an in person inspection is recomended.
