This is a very rare opportunity to acquire a genuine unmolested Ford Escort Mkll RS Mexico road car with correct matching chassis and engine numbers.

It was bought new in August 1977 from T. C. Harrison of Newcastle-under-Lyme by an elderley gentleman of 67 who specified the fitting of a Webasto sunroof and a full Ziebart rustproofing treatment before taking delivery. It is because of these that the car has survived as it has. The Ziebart treatment has ensured that the structure is sound and the Webasto sunroof has stopped it from being used as a competition car. It was money well spent.

This original owner kept the car for ten years and kept a detailed handwritten record of all work and expenditure in a Haynes workshop manual as can be seen in the photographs below along with the original Service Record Book.

This detailed record in the Haynes manual was continued by the subsequent owners for the whole life of the car. It makes excellent reading.

Since 1999. when bought by it's most recent owner. it has been kept in a dry garage and has only covered 1566 miles over this 15 year period.

The history file contains numerous old MOT certificates back to 1987 detailing the annual increase in mileage. 24 previous Road Tax discs. dozens of invoices showing expenditure over the years. a letter from the original owner giving a comprehensive account of the purchase and use of the car during the ten years of his ownership. the original guarantee for the Ziebart rustproofing treatment along with RS Owners Club paperwork including an early valuation.

It has recently had a new radiator and a complete set of silicone water hoses fitted. The car comes complete with the usual upgrade RS alloy wheels which have been on the car for many years but the original steel rims are also included in the sale.

The car has an MOT until June 2014.
